Charlie Red

CharlieRED‘s first feature, Radiant Child, found the mysterious duo pining after a simpler time with soulful desperation. Perhaps their longing for the innocence of youth had a little something to do with their guilty conscience in the here and now; on this freshly-released single, the crew’s vocalist makes an agonized confession of the double-life he’s been leading: “I left my dirt in Kansas / I do my dirt far from home.” As on the aforementioned joint, the behind-the-boards half of CharlieRED adds to the emotional resonance with vintage-soul inspired instrumentation, complementing his partner’s anguished verses with haunting guitar licks, soulful brass and overdubbed vocal harmonies. Feeling the twosome’s latest left-of-center soul concoction? Then keep it locked for the latest song releases leading up to debut EP Religion, which as yet lacks a solid drop date.
