As long as there have rappers signed to music labels, there have been issues. From Dr. Dre and Death Row to Clipse and Lupe Fiasco, there’s always drama brewing. You can now add Houston representative Chamillionaire and his struggles with his still unreleased album Venom to that mix. Today, with rumors swirling that Cham was going to part ways with Universal Republic, he self-released the new rider When Ya On. Produced by Andrew Dawson, whom also worked on Kanye’s MBDT, the beat provides a catchy piano rhythm with drums to match, on which Chamillionaire discusses the issue directly linked to the title; how folks only love you When Ya On. Cham provides a catchy sing-along hook while bringing Nipsey Hussle for assistance on a perfectly blended closing verse, working out well as the spitter blends in perfectly with the West Coast-influenced beat. We don’t know what the future will hold for Cham, but I do know that this is one of the most promising songs I’ve heard from him since Ultimate Victory. Hopefully we’ve got much, much more coming.

Beat, rhymes, flow, delivery, the track definitely has it all as far as that aspect is concerned. Chamillionaire has always been solid with most of these points, but if this is the direction he will fully be taking, there should be some very great tracks coming soon. Nipsey brings his own perspective to the mix, definitely different than that of Cham. Solid nonetheless.

Middle of the road. Cham is capable of making a hit record. I mean, a radio smash (we all remember the name of it). Regardless, I hope we get the chance to hear more of his music in the months to come now that he has left the label.

It's different to hear Cham on this kind of beat but it definitely works. Nipsey brings his own style on here and the beat is nice. Cham is one of the best in the hip-hop game of doing his own hooks and proves it on here. Be on the look-out for "Playlist Poison" and "Major Pain 1.5" in the future, he's been MIA for a while but Koopa is back!

watched the chamillionaire live ustream friday night and went and waited on his site for this track, and he also dropped two freestyles. everything cham puts out is dope as hell, i respect him for doin his own thing again. cant wait for more tracks from cham, keep an eye out for playist poisin!!! overall the tracks amazing, hot beat, dope chorus, on point and real lyrics, nipsey fit the track nicely and killed it as well.

I don't get all these "Cham has gotten better" posts. Ultimate Victory was one of the best Hip Hop albums of 2008, if not the best. "When Ya Hustle" is an extremely solid track but pales in comparison to most of the tracks found on that aforementioned album. Nipsey was a solid if unnecessary addition. Personally, the second I heard this beat I thought "J. Cole needs to be on this". I stand by that thought.

Its been a while since I heard from Cham and if this is what he comes back with then I am board. Nipsey is had good 16 but I dont think he was needed on this song. Cham should have done it by himself. I mean its his story so why not tell it by yourself.

Cham's too smart not to play this game for the long term, and that means passing up the quick money in exchange for long term stability and art under his terms. For that alone he deserves props, and add in a hell of a song and he's a virtual hip-hop hero.

Its a good track - we need this right now - It seems like it's in style to pick people up for 15 minutes then throw them to tha curb - not alotta loyalty goin on - on a higher note though - i think Cham and fabolous would make a hot track together - hope one comes soon

hmmm honestly...
chamillionaire was best when he first came out..sound of revenge probably top 10 rap albums of all time for me...i listed to it over and over and over..you could realate alot to that album ultimate victory...was more ridin music..bc of the success of ridin dirty...he thought why not try a whole album like that..and get a little political..which was still a great album..nowhere near sound of revenge though now to this song if i have to compare to all of chams songs..its wack... but as a song by itself being compared to current mainstreem..it looks a little better...it seems like all of his song is hatin on haters type of songs like all of B.o.B's mixtapes...it gets old hopefully hes saving his good stuff for the album i dont want this to be a glimpse of venom |

parting ways with Universal is probably the best thing Cham can do. Maybe his long awaited album can finally be released. I am feeling the production a lot. The verses are solid, Hussle was good, and i love the bridge and hook. banger.

After Chamillionaire made "Ridin Dirty" he couldnt make another hit like that. That song was huge. So he kinda disappeared for a while. And this is his come back, for sure. This record is really solid, but no where near a hit. I dont see this having a big audiance. He really did great on his verses in this. They have a strong point and i respect that. Having Nippsy in this only makes in that much better. The only weak point in this song is the production from Andrew. It kinda gets forgotten in the song. But then his hook comes in and you are in love with that sick a$$ beat. This is a banger.

Mane Cham. why you kept us waitin like that lol. Excellent beat selection, excellent hook, excellent topic to rap about. Its good to hear a track that aint all about that fake ish that we be hearin right now on the radio.
