Chamillionaire - Denzel Washington
Artist: Chamillionaire
Featuring: Z-Ro
Producer: Unknown
Album: Mixtape Messiah 7
Label: Chamilitary
If you’ve studied the Bible, Torah, Koran, or just about any other religious text, you’re likely aware that the number ‘7’ holds a special, almost mystical significance: seven days of creation, seven chakras, seven Harry Potter books—and now, seven Chamillionaire mixtapes. Whether the rapper’s a secret numerology buff or just tired of dropping street albums (according to his MySpace blog, it’s the latter), he’s chosen that fateful digit as a fitting endpoint for his acclaimed Mixtape Messiah series. On the first of two leaks off the forthcoming street release, however, the emcee’s set his sights on a decidedly worldly goal—to be specific, he wants “...money, power and fame like Denzel Washington.” Over a currently-unknown producer’s head-bobbing funk boardwork, Cham and fellow Houstonian Z-Ro explain just how far they expect their epic hustle to take them. Though their thugged-out image of success doesn’t seem to have all that much in common with the Academy Award-winning actor, the brag-heavy street lyricism both collaborators bring to the table makes Denzel Washington a hard track to argue with, and a tantalizing glimpse of what fans can expect from MM7, set to drop August 4th.

The lyrics are catchy, n cool. Even though there isn't a ton of substance it still rolls nice. A song like this can never be anything higher than a 4 imo because of the lack of depth.

You cant get any better than Z-ro & Cham. Great song here. Now all I want is that song Cham has with Pimp C that he also produced and im good. Chamillionaire used 2 be tight when he rapped with energy and was hungry before Sound Of Revenge. Just check out his feature on Big Tucks Wuz Up song and you'll see what I mean. And Z-Ro has killed everything he has been on since his mediocre Crack release. Im expecting a classic album from him next after hes crushing all his features hes been on since

Man, add finger snaps and its like the West Side Story on here. I've always enjoyed Cham, and still think that he's a fantastic lyricist (not so much on this one, yes). Beat is heavy, and Z-Ro worked the feature spot. Go Koopa Go.

Okay, lets get this straight: First Halle Berry gets a song, now Denzel Washington gets a song, and Jamie Foxx [as we all know] makes songs of his own. Who is next? Chris Tucker? (Do the funny man dance, haha).
The nameless production is stellar and Z-Ro couldn't sound bad if he tried. Cham sounds bored, though. Is it just me? |

Love this track! This beat is so dope. Has a catchy hook, and Cham and Z-Ro both do their things on this. I can see this getting radio play.

@ E-DEEZY - everything seems to be corny but IF you actually digg deeper than the lyrics you'll see that this is much better than it seems. Z-Ro sounds like krayzie Bone.

Haha, I have a feeling Cham could rhyme the same word 20 times in a row and everyone would love his work. This is hot.

For those who don't know Chamillionaire and Paul Wall used to be a team like the Jon and Kate and unfortunately since the break-up Chamillionaire has remained stagnant with his lyrics and delivery while Paul has evolved and progressed. If it wasn't for the DOPE production with the Issac Hayes sound in the background and Z-Ro reppin hard this song wouldn't get more than a 2 from me. Since I'm gonna find the instrumental and mix it with a lot of other things, it gets the 3rd Star

@WydeOpen
We must be listening to 2 entirely different people, because I actually think its the other way around. I think Paul Wall has remained stagnant, and Chamillionaire has evolved. He's shown lyrically how much he's grown just in the mixtape messiah series alone. If you go back and listen to classic Cham stuff and listen to his stuff now, you can hear a drastic change with the direction oh his music and how much lyrically he has improved, whereas Paul is still the same to me. He raps the same, uses the same subject matter, uses predictable beats etc. To me it seems that Paul is scared to leave his comfort zone while Cham is constantly taking risks. I dont know though thats just my opinion. |

Really like the collabo between Z and Cham, I really felt the beat was solid. Its just a mixtape track, so you can expect better from Cham, he does sound a bit bored, but the track is still decent.

This song has a good production and the melody is very catchy. Pity that after a while it gets a lil repetitive! I'd put it in rotation, I've also heard better ;)

Cham and Z-Ro are my two favourite H-Town rappers. And the two most underrated, in my opinion.
I'd only hope that Z-Ro and Chamillitary would have harmonised instead of singing the same note together. Dope production too. |
