Chamillionaire - I'm So Gone (Patron)
Artist: Chamillionaire
Featuring: Bobby V
Producer: DJ Montay
Album: Unreleased
Label: Chamilitary
Nice cars and tons of money are all well and good, but even being a platinum-selling hip-hop artist doesn’t guarantee that life will be all fun and games—everyone, even the rich and famous, needs to kick back every now and again. On I’m So Good (Patron), Chamillionaire and Bobby V escape from the daily grind by way of the titular top-shelf liquor. Chamillionaire’s lyrics take center stage here; the subject matter should appeal to anyone who has ever had to grapple with money issues and stress, and the emcee’s personable, relatable rhymes cut through DJ Montay‘s melodic blend of synths and bells. Bobby V adds his well-known singing voice on the hook, offering a contrast to Chamillionaire’s stark vocal delivery. Don’t look for this track to hit the hip-hop airwaves in any form just yet, though—this hasn’t yet been released as a single and the album that it was previously going to be featured on, Venom, has recently been scrapped. Perhaps that’s why Cham’s been under so much stress lately…

I like the effort from Cham, this can give him a club presence I rarely have heard him in since the feature on Ciara's "Get Up." Bobby V was a good addition here too. Good idea for Cham to release this now with the popularity of the alcohol-related songs out.

Cham switched up his delivery a bit here, and it worked out well. Great subject matter from him, which I've come to expect from Cham after Ultimate Victory. The vibe kinda reminds me of "Silver and Gold," which is great because I love that song.

i dont really like Bobby V as a feature, but he SERVED it here.. i think he kind of outshined Cham on this one. |

Ill be honest, I think Cham is trying way to hard to achieve another mainstream hit. I just dont think he suits tracks like this or Relax (his last single that featured J. Holiday). I think he just needs to go back to what made him successful in the first place & be patient, another hit song will come eventually from that style.

Great combination..Bobby V is so smooth on the hook and the production is fresh. Koopa brings some solid lyrics as usual this is a nice mainstream banger right here! Not as good as Relax but pretty close.

Damn, Bobby V has such a smooth voice. The production was nice and I dug Cham's flow. I can see this gettin some spins on my pod.
Can someone please tell me what Dr. D meant by the following quote from the blurb: "the album that it was previously going to be featured on, Venom, has recently been scrapped in production." |

@ GStan10: Cham has recently said that he is not releasing Venom anymore. I really don't know why, that's all I got...

I loved the song, but I'm glad Koopa scraped the album. It was starting to look like "Venom" was for the females, and would of never actually had any of that "Venom" in it. This song is a Club Banger, but I'm sure it won't see any club play.

I am so sick of hearing brand liquor names in music, but Cham pulls this off nicely. Though you shouldn't expect to hear this on the radio all summer, do expect some heat from the Chamilitary Man real real soon.

LOL THIS JUST WON'T END, TWO PATRON SON@S IN ONE WEEKEND? THE TREY SON@S ONE IS A COVER OF THE JONTA AUSTIN VERSION. THIS IS ALSO ONE I LIKE, AS I SAID, R&B NEEDS TO JUST CHAN@E ITS NAME TO PATRON. THE MOST OVER USED TITLE OF THE YEAR.

nice song to hear from cham, feelin bobby v on it too.
@cb12... long story short people kinda want/demand of him to keep doin the baller rap he used to like with paul wall and he felt like it was time to stop tryin to recreate that feel, so he's lookin to make new music that has a different taste to it as you could say. he's stopping the mixtape messiah series also but dropping MM7 for free on his site. and in his own words what's happening IS FOR the better.. hope that clears some up |

Recognize Chamillionaire's lyrical skills but since his last album I haven't liked him as much. Good lyrics but this song is just average to me, isn't bumping enough to play it a lot and isn't laid back enough to make me just want to chill to it. Bobby V is great on the hook tho.

Wow, a little different from Cham here. Usually This is Bobby V's best feature since one of his firsts in 2004 on "Pimpin All Over The World" with luda. The production is tight but gets a little annoying after a while. I still like Cham better on the harder tracks.

bobby v brings a lot more energy on the hook than cham does on the verses, i dont know if i would categorize this as "club" but it will be a good party song

Bobby V sounded so nice on this track... If this had came out a year before all of the Patron/drinking tracks had came out this would have been REALLY successful imo.

I am forever a fan of this man. He's so underappreciated, and I hope someday he blows up. He deserves it. As for this song, definitely not my favorite from Koopa, but still a tight song. Hopefully we hear more Koopa on the Booth real soon, 'cause I simply can't get enough of this man.

First off, Chamillionaire is my favorite rapper. Love his flow (reminiscent of Industry Groupie) and is an underrated lyricist. The little rap part on the 2nd verse was a nice touch to the singy-songyness. Montay was beastly on the boards as usual.
The story about Venom being cancelled is basically this: He dumbs down because he knows that people liked it. He is sick of trying to satisfy old concepts and such so he's taking a "vacation" to rekindle himself and focus on his commercial music. Venom wasnt looking like venom to Chamillionaire. 2 RnB leaks already? He's gonna give us MM7, quit mixtapes, and make a 3rd studio album of new stuff that should be FIRE! |

I like this it's good. At first i thought it was gonna be one of those typical club record even if the beat sounds a bit for the club the lyrics doesn't.

Man...I hate to be the voice of dissent...really do...but this song was subpar from jump. Corporate shout outs, trite subject matter, played R&B hook...while none of these things are a sacrilege on there own when they come together they make a mighty Decepticon capable of wielding unworldy audio pain...so...one begrudging star and truth of the matter is if I had three hands I'd give this joint three thumbs way the @*#$! down like my name was Rick James Biatch !
