Recently signed to Jive Records after more than a decade on the grind, Booth newcomer Chalie Boy‘s been feeling like a million bucks, and he’s got no intention of keeping that freshness to himself; as the Texan rapper/singer puts it on this newly-released remix of his current single, “I Look Good from the kicks to the finit.” Backed by JB Eazy‘s stark percussion-synth boardwork (retained from the original), this version of the regional hit boasts guest verses from three fellow Southerners with a propensity for stunting. The ever-balling Slim Thug jumps on board to show off his clothes, his diamonds, and his Bentley (which, as those who tuned in for his hilarious Daily Show segment know, he only bought because he couldn’t afford the Rolls Royce Phantom), followed by equally flashy contributions from New Orleans veteran Juvenile and UGK alum Bun B. So, Booth readers, does Chalie Boy sound as good as he looks? If you think so, keep it locked to our front page for further info on his yet-untitled debut set, due out in spring 2010.

I cannot lie. This sound is not my cup of tea. I do not (as everyone knows) discriminate against regions or sounds, but its hard to push a record you just don't believe in. After getting countless e-mails from DJs all across the south, seeing their reaction to the record, AND hearing a remix with bona fide starts on board... we jumped on the bandwagon (late). This won't impress everyone, but it has an undeniable presence in the streets and the clubs and I can respect that.

Just listened to this for Bun B verse. Not interested in anything else. The beat is southern standard. All guests turn in phoned-verses and Chalie Boy sounds like a lot of other southern rappers and he doesn't say anything to separate himself from the pack. Not that hook was good in the first place but extra vocal layerings on hook ruined whatever replay potential this song could've had, in my opinion. Okay at very best.

I just can't stand the chorus with all the wailing in the background. Good verses all around. Bun B came harder than I've heard in a while.

This is one of them joints that I shake my head at at first, but then find myself noddin to it. It has that catchy factor, and I did like Chalie Boy's verse. "Probably not the flyest... I might be depending on your bias." That line pretty much sums it up. Rotation for sure.

This song is very well said,But the orginal chorus was better. There was no need for all the extra screaming. Bun B was the best on the track.
