If you take nothing else away from Cee-Lo‘s music, bear in mind that the man goes hard in the paint in just about everything he does. When he was scorned, we got F*ck You, which became an anthem for unrequited love and embittered exes everywhere. The wounds have since healed and now he’s swooning hard with his heart on his sleeve in his latest single Fool For You. If producer Jack Splash was trying to make it sound like ‘Lo went back in time and recorded a song with Earth, Wind & Fire then he succeeded. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear EW&F front man Philip Bailey’s distinct falsetto vocals backing him up, bringing the whole sound full circle. As if that weren’t enough, R&B chanteuse Melanie Fiona hops on board with a sultry verse to express her equally swoon-worthy sentiments. This song has been criminally overlooked on the album. While F*ck You is a great song, it often requires a time and a place. Fool For You is everyday music that just makes you feel good whenever you listen to it.

There is a reason Cee-Lo will be attending the Grammy's this weekend. Songs like "Fool For You" show his ability to transfer excellent song writing and vintage production into so much more than your average artist. I know this isn't a "classic" record, but its better than a 4.

You just cant categorize Cee-Lo, he doesnt fit into any defined music. No matter what you call it, his music is incredible. This is my favorite track on the album. Credit should be given to Melanie Fiona for holding her own next to Cee-Lo

This album is nothing but flames. "Bodies" will remain my favorite record on the LP, but this one has to come close. The fact that the beautiful and talented Ms. Fiona lends her voice to this cut only adds to the appeal. This one WORKS. Agreed with Z at the top. 4 stars doesn't give this one justice.

This album is a real gem... something unlike anything else and well worth owning. Fool For You is one of my favourites on the album and with Fiona on it boosts it from a serious banger to a near classic

Cee-Lo's songs tend to have this default historic feel to them. This song is reminiscent of those summer moments spent in the passenger seat your parents car while the old school stations filled your ears. Classic feel merged with a fresh sound; you, can't help but like Fool For You.

defo souiful R&B classic....I'm soz I really don't like Cee-lo, he has a voice...but I guess it's irritatingly screechy to me. That's my strong minority
This is defo a R&B jam...diggin Ms Fiona's partake. All considerin' I think this is the closest Cee-Lo tune i get to likin. Z and others right, min of 4*. |

I was on the Cee-lo bandwagon a LONG time ago.... people slept on Perfect Imperfections and Soul Machine... and when I mentioned his name, nobody knew who I was talking about... BUT NOW... he's everywhere and FINALLY getting love and I'm glad... but I feel people still don't appreciate his FIRST 2 solo albums enough.
Anyway, done venting.. this is a dope song. :) |
