Have you ever tasted jambalaya?  If you have, you know it’s basically a hodgepodge of seemingly incompatible ingredients dumped together that cook and blend to produce a taste that, if done well, will have you asking for seconds. Jambalaya, though, is a rare example of a mixture of different flavors that doesn’t make your face contort in disgust – most experimental dishes aren’t so lucky. Unfortunately, Freestyle Series alumnus Ced HughesUP! High may, to some ears, need a couple of ingredients removed or re-seasoned. With Hudson Mohawke (who recently provided the beat for Nero’s The FIFTH) crafting an off-center, electro-infused production and Ced’s “I’ve heard that before” lyrics, as much as it tries not to be, the track is ironically predictable and suffers as a result. However, as different as the flavors in jambalaya are, so are the opinions of the Booth community, so I might just be the one in the minority. If UP! High pleases your musical taste buds, be sure to check it on Ced Hughes’ Margarine EP, which is available now.

I listened to this record 3 times in a row while skimming through Ced's newly-released EP. When that happens it means one of a few things: 1) Its great, 2) Its middle of the road, 3) Its down right awful.

Since this song made its way onto our homepage we can eliminate the third option here - which leaves us with #1 and #2. Help me bridge the gap...

Some parts of this remind me of Kanye West for some reason. I'm glad this is up for free download.

At first it sounds like too much going on, but after your ears adjust it all seems to work out; and the verses are on point.

I'm really digging the Margarine project, but this isn't one of my favorite tracks. I like it more than Matthew in the intro, but he's right, Ced's rhymes are a little predictable here.

With that said, Ced and Hudson sound like absolutely nothing else out there, and they deserve huge props for that.

The beat is so unique. I give it 4 stars by it self. The verses get a solid 3 stars. The song itself is really a "feel good" track, and truly "bright" as already mentioned by The Real Erica. I like it though.

I really this track, the spacey production, feels very much like Kid Cudi track.
