The Cataracs - Club Love (The Yay Remix)

The lines between hip-hop, dancehall, pop, house and just about every genre you can think of are getting blurrier every minute, and almost no one’s genre-vision is hazier than Bay Area duo The Cataracs. Comprised of Campa and Cyrano, neither of whom are legally old enough to drink, The Cataracs are making their first DJBooth appearance with a song that defies easy description, Club Love (The Yay Remix). Anchored by some appropriately club-centric production by Cyrano that remarkably manages not to overuse auto-tune, the remix recruits Bay Area godfather E-40 to bring some street appeal to the pair’s otherwise lighthearted lyrical approach, resulting in a track that’s got guilty pleasure written all over it. I won’t lie, I’m fascinated to see how the Booth is going to respond to this one. Club Love will be part of their self-titled album The Cataracs, which currently has no set release date.
