In 2007, a number of late 90’s/early 00’s R&B stars came back to prominence (see Joe, Musiq, and Tank), and 2008 looks to continue this trend with “I’ve still got it” releases from TQ, Brandy and Monica. Also jumping on the career-resurrection bandwagon is singer Case, whose official reentry into the game will occur on October 28 as Mr. Touch Me, Tease Me drops his fourth studio album, The Rose Experience. If his new single, Lovely is any indication of what is to come, the mainstream audience is in for a treat. Similar to the sound of his last project, Open Letter, Case exhibits his smooth vocals, this time over a soft beat from longtime producer Chris “CL” Liggio. With the nostalgia factor in play, Case should find plenty of success on the Urban AC charts.
I liked the sound of the production right off the bat. Case's vocals are sort of weird. It was hard to really catch on with them. It was like he was off key, but then he wasn't. But then it was hard to decipher. I like the vibe a lot from this song, but Case's vocals just don't seem strong and captivating for me to give this anything higher than a 3 stars.
In my hometown of Racine, Case is the name of one of the three public high schools (after Horlick and my alma mater Park). They have International Baccalaureate, and their Eagles dominate in basketball & softball-but are football cellar-dwellers-but again I di-what is it with me and digressing here?!
I'm part of that nostalgia faction, growing up in the late 90s-early 2000s, so I need to tell you CASE IS BACK! Normally I'd give this a 4, but growing up around these sounds (and also the last time he dropped an album, I was an 8th-grader at McKinley Middle School), I'm giving the extra star for that. Can't wait for the album!
Not a big fan of this one. This song sounds like it was recorded back in 95 when Case was doin big things. Meaning that this track sounds like all of his other previous material from 10+ years ago. It's a new day and age and I think he's gotta chang himself up a little bit to come back fresh and rejuvinated.
I'm rating this song before i've heard the ending, Because there's no reason. He's still got that same nice melodies, And his voice is still smooth. This is good relaxing, "Clean up the house on a Sunday" type of music =]
Mr. Bedroom Voice, for real. Probably not the best song we will hear from him, but this is good. Nice production, not sure if I'm liking the lyrics with beat but still nice. I'm glad to see him making a comeback, I've surely missed him, my CD's are warped, LOL. 3 stars~(**)~
BDF44: "This is a good start to a comeback. Give us more homie." Fam, I've heard a few more cuts from this project... they sound GREAT. An R&B album that everyone who has followed Case should be looking forward to. Excuse me while I play this one again...
Smooth R&B, I've missed this. Case's voice is perfect for this. It'll be interesting to see what else is coming out from him it reminds a little bit of brian mcknight, different voice but similer vibe
It's a smooth song...he has a good voice and sings well! After a while I became tired of the song, though...guess it's not my type, too slow! It would be suitable to movies Like Save The Last Dance, where they normally put such slow and sexy songs in the soundtrack!
I love it because I am very lovely! But Case is one of my fav R&B singers. I will listen to this while I am cooking and cleaning the house or just trying to relax.
