In an era when emceeing and hustling seem to be gratuitously interconnected, it has become hard to conclude whose story is real and whose is simply a fictional rags-to-riches tale. Rapper Carlito’s Life of Crimez is easy to understand: using an array of rhythmic wordplay patterns, the Paterson, New Jersey emcee describes the problems that hamper his opportunity to escape the gritty street from 9 to 5. Carlito calls on crooner Shy Boogs for a thought-provoking hook, delivered over a beat courtesy of Omega Productions. Carlito’s debut album, Carlito’s Way: The LP, is expected to be released later this year;
Dam this dude can rap, "stealing quarters in order to feed my daughter", wow, the hook is hot, the beat is good, i think Carlito has great word play, this is my new favorite song!
p.s. (2nd verse) "roll wit pros that hold the toaster close" that par is craZy!
This is pretty good. Never heard of Carlito but hes really good. He can really rap. The beat and hook are also pretty good. A bigger name prob gets 5 stars for this but this is a high 4 star rating.
