The Juno Awards—Canada’s version of the Grammys—have distributed past honors to the likes of Shawn Desman and Nelly Furtado. Another Canuck to have scored multiple Juno nods is on-the-rise singer Carl Henry, who does his country proud with his latest single, Trippin’. Beatmaker Coggs, from Carl Henry’s own CeSoul Music label, provides the throbbing, synth-heavy club beat, which intermingles with Henry’s airy tales of a girl who’s got him on the run. Ever since she came into his life he has been chasing this special lady, but now she’s driving him insane to the point that she’s simply got him Trippin’. Expect Trippin’ to appear on Carl’s upcoming 2009 release, All That I Know, and to keep the ladies on the dance floor till the break of dawn.
I've never heard of this guy, but he's not bad. I agree that it's not super original and doesn't really have that "special" factor to it for it to stand out . It kind of reminds me of that Colby 'O Donis song "What You Got". It's kind of a prepackaged pop bop feel to it. It's just okay. Now, if Drake from the T.DOT!!!!!!! hopped on this, it might be iller.
He had a somewhat popular song called "I Wish" in Canada that got quite a bit of airplay in the west. He's actually quite a good singer with a good choice of beats. Unfortunately for him, this single (Trippin') is weak compared to his first album. This track sounds a bit too generic, nothing good lyrically, and the beat is lacking. I think it partially has to do with his label though. I recall they had a hard time getting albums out and they were quite small with limited resources.
michaelhannah it's weird u don't remember this dude! There were 2 songs by him featured here on DjBooth, "Like You" and "2 Tha Floor"...Like You was one of my fav songs some months ago, but I didn't like the second one. As for this track, not feelin it very much, either. It's too stupid I'm sorry! It could be good if I was 16, but I'm nearly 24 and I wanna listen to something more mature. The beat sucks, he isn't bad
word up..this dude wins some Canadian grammy's but the best hook he can come up with it "you got me trippin"...
Shiiittttt aint that a @*#$!...i dont like his voice eighter, only thing decent about this is the beat
The track is pretty generic, but then again... almost ALL R&B (hold, John Legend) has been in this vein. If there is a dance element to the song, its going to be generic. Why? Because generic means catchy-enough, and that means people recite your sh*t in the club with a bottle full of bub. Wait, that was a generic line too. Sh*t.
ITS PRETTY GOOD BUT LIKE Z AND EVERY ONE ELSE SAID ITS GENERIC SO....EITHER WAY ITS GOOD IT OK TO REPETITIVE YOU GOT ME TRIPPIN COME ON THATS FINE BUT AT LEAST ADD ANOTHER LINE OR TWO IN TO THE MIX YOU NO WHAT I MEAN?
idk this song has kinda a catchy feelin to it .... in rot .... maybe we'll all be trippin' when we keep hearin it on the radio .... has somethin a lil diff but its an alright song ....
