Cam'ron & Vado - It's Your Party
Artist: Cam'ron & Vado
Producer: AraabMUZIK
Album: Cam'ron & The U.N. Presents: Heat in Here (Vol. 1)
Label: E1 Music
As I unpack the boatloads of new music that visit the Booth each day I try to keep an open mind and not judge a book by its cover; and by “book” I mean Cam’ron and Vado, and by “cover” I mean their new mixtape single It’s Your Party. Let me try to be diplomatic about this. (Get it? Diplomatic? Nevermind.) While I have nothing against Killa Cam, the formerly all-pink-everything emcee can be a little hit or miss, I frankly don’t know anything about Vado (he’s from Harlem) and producer AraabMUZIK is frankly young and unproven. And yet as I soon as I pressed play and the oversized production hit my eardrums, I discovered that I was undeniably a It’s Your Party supporter. Sure, Cam and Vado may not be the second coming of Ghost and Raekwon, but Party proves the duo can hit, and hit hard. For more “doper than the haters think” hip-hop, cop Cam’ron & The U.N. Presents: Heat in Here (Vol. 1) when it drops May 25.

Similar to Nathan (see above feature write-up) I don't completely hate this record. Cam is exactly what we expect from him and Vado is pretty much a poor man's Cam (don't be offended, no shots). His cadence is very similar - maybe a little faster - but I like the amped up energy.
Just to be clear - They want us to see the shotty (shot gun), but not fear that anyone will get hurt? I guess it is what it is... haha. |

Far from my favorite duo and after this may even be considered my least favorite duo. Cam just does not impress on tracks that I hear him on. Even on Clipse's "Popular Demand," I felt as though he was the weak link. Vado could really step his game up as well. "Life a treadmill, N!ggas running, but they losing weight," haha that was a pretty dope line.
This song won't make the cut for my mp3 nor would I listen to it again. Production wasn't too bad, but at the same time, nothing worth remembering excluding the treadmill line. |

Eh, it's not bad. The production was alright, but Cam’ron and Vado's performances weren't doin it for me though.

LMAO @ DJ Z and his poor man's Cam comment
The seeing Stevie Wonder reference has been played out. Cam comes out with nothing that lyrically stimulates any one my brain cells. And for following Cam's delivery Vado equally follows in suit and leaves me bored searching for the end of this track. There is nothing that screams my party than the production's murderous scream throughout the song. Cam hasn't been the same for a long time now and this tag team event they have coming out in late May doesn't seem like a come back or even a good introduction for Vado. |

Cam been in my iPod for quite some time now. Sure he's not the most lyrical but he's good at what he does, you could almost say he's crafty. He made the track, hook was weak tho.

Probably the weakest track ive heard these two make together (though they have been making some heat). The production bangs from AraabMUZIK, though I dont think Vado or Cam's flow match it. The hook is probably the weakest part of this track.
Vado should of been in this years freshman list (if you disagree with this statement, dont use this track as a example of your argument) |

I came, I listened to it once, enjoyed while it lasted, I left.
Not impressed by Vado at all, I don't know if I would check... *reads @Aussie_Pride's feedback* Okay let me check what else he got going. Any mixtapes you suggest? |

As I wrote in the intro, I found myself enjoying this one a lot more than I thought I was going to. The beat's actually a knocker, and while Vado is just kind of there, in the right mood I can definitely roll with Cam's slow flow.
On that note, congrats to Killa on being the 3, 794th emcee to drop some version of the "even Stevie Wonder could see me" line. |

The beat is nice, but Vado's flow doesn't go well with it. Camron sounded a little better, but not by a lot.

Never quite got with cams flow, always felt like he was trying to entertain pre-schoolers. Beats ok, nothing out the box.

Just an ok song. Not quite garbage and not quite rotation. Not very good at coming up with great lyrics. Not my fav artist but Cam does alright on this one.

I dont think Cam got nothin left in the tank anyone, and he wants to hand over the ranks to Valdo, but he isn't quite ready for that responsibility yet. As for the production, with this sound, it won't make it out the streets.

not sure what to expect from this... varied booth ratings so ill have to listen hard. cam has a nice flow but he is outplayed but the beat which is a real knocker. the hook really needed work, i think it was the weakest link in this song. vado was fairly boring, hard to keep interested.

The beat is the highlight here! The bass straight knocks but the lyrics are pretty average. I dont know about Cam, he is hit and miss but for once I think this song can be considered in between. Enough to get some spin.

@Mr. Top Hat - The last two Cam mixtapes, Boss Of All Bosses 2 & 2.5 (The download for 2.5 is on refined hype).
If your not a fan of Cam's work, then I dunno if you'll enjoy those mixtapes as much as I did |

I think Cam just needs to fall back these days, he just isn’t that good anymore.
