Busta Rhymes - Why Stop Now (Remix)
Artist: Busta Rhymes
Featuring: Chris Brown , Lil Wayne , Missy Elliot
Producer: Sak Pase (of The Jugganauts)
Album: E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2: End of the World
Label: Conglomerate/YMCMB
When you have a record burning up the charts, the question inevitably arises: Why Stop Now? Seizing the opportunity to make his latest single a smash twice over, Busta Rhymes returns to our pages with the joint’s official remix. For this version of the Billboard (and Booth) charting banger, Bus-A-Bus enlists two heavyweight guests to complement original hookman Chris Breezy. After a fresh opening verse form the headliner, Missy Elliot grabs the mic to lace Sak Pase‘s handclap-driven beat with some characteristically off-the-wall wordplay: “I slay these crows / Got more lines than cornrows.” Rhymes’ Young Money boss, Weezy, ends the remix on a high note, incorporating shout-outs to Ace Hood and Tyler the Creator (“I’m thuggin’, bumpin’ Golf Wang.”) into his unhinged closing 16. With Tunechi and Misdemeanor contributing standout bars, even those who weren’t feeling the record this first time ‘round will have to acknowledge the remix’s appeal - or do I have it twisted? In any case, fans will be able to find the album version of Why Stop Now and much more on Busta’s YMCMB debut, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2: End of the World, due to drop later this year!

Didn't think this record would blow up, but I guess that serves me right for questioning the apparent power of YMCMB. Its always great to hear from Missy, her second verse being the highlight for me.

I am only giving this 3 stars because Missy is on it, otherwise I don't like this track.

The original was pretty cool and I think this one is just as bangin or better. Busta never ceases to amaze me with his flow skills after all these years. It's like a breath of fresh air to hear Missy back again with a strong flow. Weezy capped it all off nicely...

Why stop now, make a remix. I'm allergic to YMCMB, so I my mind tells me that I can't give it more than 3 stars because Lil Wayne is on it.

Like Z said this won't be a hit. I feel like instead of trying to create something new, Busta is trying to copy everything else. Thats primarily why back on my B.S flopped.

re:"Young Swish" - Do you really think Busta is following?? WOW. You couldn't know music, if you think Busta is following! Alot of the things you hear in hip hop today, orginated by him. Matter of fact many things you SEE (visual) in MUSIC today, he's one of the originators. Please tell me, how is that copying?? He's already been copied!! (get your hip hop history game up!)

@Bread 18 Come on son, "get my hip hop history " up. I know Hip Hop. But lets be real in the last few years Busta has feel off. Even you have to admit back on B.S was poor by his standards. And songs like the auto tuned "Arab money" and "Hustler's Anthem '09" were following what was hot at the moment. Busta was better than this.

I have to agree, Busta has been on cruise control for a while now. Back on my BS was well....BS. Busta was and still is one of my favourite rappers, but back in the day his style and music was completely original and trend setting.
Continuing on his 'Break Ya Neck', 'Look At Me Now' flow worked on the original (which I'm a big a fan of) but I feel his verse was lacking on this remix. Missy was decent, good to hear her back on a track after so long! Lil Wayne is another artist that has been on cruise control for a while now - his verse did nothing for me. Looking forward to see what Busta brings on his album! |

I agree with DJ Z this won't blow up any further than the original collaboration but is a nice listen I have to agree.
