Busta Rhymes - Stop the Party (Remix)
Featuring: T.I. , Cam'ron , Ghostface Killah , DMX
Producer: Swizz Beatz
Album: Untitled New Album
Label: Conglomerate/YMCMB
Impressively, Busta Rhymes, who’s currently working on his ninth solo studio album, is still going strong after a decade and a half in the rap game. Having teamed up with trusty maker producer Swizz Beatz for the currently untitled and unscheduled album’s lead single Stop the Party, the duo are back with a remix, and they’ve recruited T.I., Cam’ron, DMX, and Ghostface Killah for the job. Unfortunately though, the result’s not particularly impressive. The Swizzy beat is his standard bass, snare, drum and tambourine combination, and with all the pauses for random ad-libs, it’s hard to get into a groove. Lyrically Busta doesn’t change a thing from the original, while T.I., Ghost and Cam all spit relatively mediocre bars, although DMX notably ends the track with a short but sweet couple of lines that show us despite the jail time, he’s still in pretty good form. Overall Stop the Party doesn’t live up to Busta and Swizz’ previous hit, Touch It (Remix), but it should still earn a couple of rotations. But maybe it’s just me; is this a remix worth spinning Booth fans?

If this record dropped in 2001 I think I might be more excited. As it stands, though better than the original, I cannot say the guest features and the club angle live up to the hype.

Despite the star power and expectations of this track, I was not impressed. Busta changes nothing and the guest artists add nothing special (wit the exception of the always-on-point GFK, who can't even save the track).

This should have been a posse cut, not a club joint. In a club joint, you have a catchy, vibrant melody of looping harmonious notes with just one main artist, and maybe a guest star. You see that in R&B jams, mainly the remixes. "Stop The Party" is a failed attempt at a club joint. You have bad samples (really, 20th Century Fox!? o_O), very short verses, and a Swizz Beatz chorus that is so weak, it made the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme song look superior (peep the Lakers victory edition on Wammy Radio for more info). With that said, I can't say anything good for "Stop The Party". I am disappointed in Busta Rhymes right now because usually his hits are instant club bangers. "Put Your Hands," "Fire It Up," "Touch It," "We Made It," "Gimme Some More." Where did my Busta Rhymes go?
As a man of sense, I need to throw more than two pennies on this. First off, a posse cut is a club song that have a multitude of rappers on it. The mood is darker and exciting: hardcore in its beats and street in its lyrics, but catchy and melodious as any R&B jam. Perfect example: "Tha Points," a 1995 song from the Panther Soundtrack that featured up to twelve notable names in hip hop. Biggie, Bone Thugs, Busta, Redman, Rock from Heltah Skeltah, Big Mike, Jamal, Menace Clan, Doodlebug of Digable Planets, Buckshot, Black Sheep, 5th Ward Boyz and Ill Al Skratch. No interruptions, no distractions, all rap. Busta, you need to awaken the posse cut if you want "Stop The Party" the way you wanted it to be. If you prefer a club banger, check out Fingazz. He's one of the best balanced producers who can deliver a club beat that is equivalent to a posse cut. As for artists, I will throw out some recommended names: Mystikal (fresh out of prison), Joe Budden (now a Slaughterhouse member), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Rob G (Pocos Pero Locos artist affiliate). Now you know why it's a one. To get a four star, you need to deliver more. |

ok...i would give this NO stars if DMX didn't come in and spit bars reminiscent of the BAD ASS, STREET DMX,(not the Lord Give Me a Sign DMX)
and show glimpses of what might be a successful comeback. If he goes back to the way he used to spit, represented here on this track, I think he can make a full comeback and start killing the game again. Ah, one can only hope... |

Busta is one of the most underrated rappers in the game. Not too many people that were big in 1993 could get any mic-work in right now and still sound relevant (IMO anyway). I like the high energy on the track from Busta to set it off. Swizz production on here is made for the club. T.I. doesn't really sound himself on here, it just wasn't his flow I guess. Cam'ron Killed it but if the Celtics get back together again, Miami still won't go to the championship! Anyway, Wasn't really feelin Ghost on here.
DMX sounds better than he has in a WHILE. I'm giving this track props just for that alone. Maybe I am crazy for this, but ITS A BANGER to me! |

All the pauses and breaks make this miserable to listen to. Adding all these notable names didn't save this song. And all those sound effects during the breaks don't help either. This is just terrrible.

You couldn't be bothered to come up with a new verse for your own remix? Really Busta? Really?
I thought T.I. was actually pretty good on this, and it's great to hear DMX sound like at least a shadow of his former self, but it's not nearly enough to make up for the rest of the track's weaknesses. |

The beat is okay, but all the pauses really take away from the beat and the song as a whole. The chorus is weak. Busta couldn't even record a new verse for a remix of his own song. I like T.I., Ghostface Killah, and DMX on here; Cam'Ron was alright and busta rhymes was subpar with his same verse. It's overall alright, but all of its problems make it dissapointing. I want the old busta back...so bad...

This song might have been decent...if it wasn't for the many pauses full of random samples and chatting that killed the momentum of the track.

This has all been said before but: Too many pauses, eronious samples, and ad-libs. Normally a die hard Swizzy fan, and love a good Busta party track. But this just wasn't it.

This remix would've been fire if he swapped Cam out for Nicki. He brought this to a halt big time.

I tried to like this joint...I was in tune with some of the sample references...GFK was nice on his verse....DMX is always angry but nothing to arouse the sense like in the days of his debut. Nothing overly good about the track...not the original either! But Im a Busta fan forever...waiting for that good good!
