When Pimp C unexpectedly passed away last December, some doubted whether his UGK partner-in-rhyme Bun B would continue his recording career. Instead of quitting, however, the King of the Trill is coping with his partner’s loss by going back into the studio to record his sophomore solo album, II Trill. On the first single, That’s Gangsta, the feature work from Sean Kingston will most likely get a mixed reaction from fans. Regardless, Bun shows off his street veteran status by explaining precisely what a “trill gangsta” is and doesn’t let teen sensation Kingston overstep his boundaries. Using a beat courtesy of JR Rotem, Gangsta is the first step in Bun’s master plan to grab ahold of the UGK movement. As Pimp looks down and listens to this one, he should be very proud of his compadre.
Bun B had an interview with MTV's Mixtape Money today and he sounded like he was still getting over the passing of C. I know this tragedy will just push him harder to make better music. JR does it again on the beat and him with Sean Kingston have proven to be a dynamic duo.
JR Rotem is one of my favorite producers; always like his beats and this one is a good example. This is the kind of song where Sean Kingston sounds better actually (anyone heard Colours ft RickRoss and Game?), not that corny Beautiful Girls! Bun B’s flow was on point!
I like Sean Kingston on here! Bun B really actually lays it down as well. Track is done really well and this should be on the radio RIGHT NOW! Hot track...I am even gonna give it classic status! I'll play this over and over again! RIP PIMP C
As we all know, 2pac's popularity soared once he was dead. As sad as it might be, does anyone feel as though Bun B will benefit from the passing of Pimp C? It is possible that his death will turn MANY people into UGK fans (who previously never heard of them).
Rotem is a monster....dude beats be off the hook....Bun never lets me down......LIVING LEGEND......STILL NOT A FAN OF KINGSTON....NOT SOLD ON THAT MEAT HEAD AT ALL....SORRY
DJ Z: I don't think that Pimp's passing will help Bun B out at all as a solo artist. If people have never heard of UGK, then they've never heard of Pimp C.
"Still trill workin the wheel, a pimp not a simp. Keep them d boys higher than the goodyear blimp!" R.I.P. Pimp C
Z, I guess that may happen to an extent… although not that many, you have one example here: I’ve never heard an UGK album before and I am thinking about doin it. And yes, since PimpC’s death that I started seeing UGK, Rip, everywhere, I got curious.
Z, Believe it or not, bun b (or UGK) fame started to soar once the industry took interest in lil flip. trill sells were higher than expected by even him. and dirty money sold another 50,000. pimp c death will change his fame but hopefully not his target audience.
RIP PIMP C bun B trill was and official album i can listen to front to back. Bun never really got shine but these dudes been south legends for over a decade so many south underground classics that still get play till this day in the third coast. BUN B was always a very lyrical dude going back to dirty money, pimp in the 90s was more rapper than swagger after he got out of jail he turned more to swagger then rapping. it still fitted though. Dont forget UGK got mainstream after Jays big pimpin especially after BUNs verse on there was so deadly.
1st up, r i p PIMP C. U dont like this jus b cuz Kingston is on her then u r a f ing fool. I dont like Sean either but he did his thing on this one, which honestly he had no choice if ur on the joint with the UNDERGROUND KING
ok..song's on point..sean kingston is starting to become more than what he used to be..jump on some veteran's tracks as a feature and your popularity will soar (as well as you are good..didnt work with Huey or that other dude from the Lou that had that one hit wonder..lol)
