The autumn leaves are pretty and all, but When the Winter Comes, you’d better be prepared – especially if you, like me, live in the coldest state in the mainland U.S. (I reside in Minnesota, for the record). On the latest single off Booth newcomer Buff1‘s forthcoming It’s a 1derful Life mixtape, the Ann Arbor, Michigan up-and-comer uses the impending chill as a metaphor for the passage of time, spitting, “The colder it gets, the older you feel/ your bones get tense like you’re over the hill….” Damu the Fudgemunk, the inexplicably-named beatsmith readers may remember from The Black Sunn‘s Who I Am, turns in an impressive performance behind the boards, backing Buff’s half poetic, half boastful bars with a sampled beat featuring some shiver-inducing piano trills – I’m feeling kind of chilly just listening. Readers digging WtWC can find plenty more wintry jams – and, hopefully, a few warmer tunes – on Buff1’s latest street album, set to hit the ‘net December 2.

Living in Chicago, lord knows I don't need any music in my life that will make me colder than the elements already do on their own. Refreshingly chilly music, though, is always welcome.
Buff1 has a real nice flow and the production work complements his sound very well. It might be getting cold in the song, but plenty of listeners will warm up to this Midwesterner.

I just can't get over the fact that there's a dude out there named Damu the Fudgemunk, and he makes damn good beats to boot. This is my introduction to Buff 1 but I'm impressed. This won't blow you away, but it's quality. Fortunately I live in L.A., where you don't see your breath unless you're breathing out smog, so I just can't feel this as much as my Chicago brethren DJ Z.

I could kind of get where the production here is being directed, but its no there yet, still needs a little more work. The artists here does a nice job however, this particxular track will not deter me from hearing more from him.

Being from Miami I really don't know much about the cold (the coldest it'll get is 60.) I like this, though.

been following buff 1 since AMLs first record. He has a tight flow and his verses always show creativity. The production on this is dope, it actually makes you feel the cold. Really feeling this track, and Im looking forward to his album.
