Jamall Bufford - Eyes on Success
Artist: Jamall Bufford
Featuring: David Dallas
Producer: P-Money
Album: None
Label: Lab Technicians/A-Side Worldwide
For all the rappers who encourage listeners to chase after their dreams, there are precious few who provide advice you can really take to the bank. Buff1, however, has that rare combination of artistic passion and practicality – and on unreleased cut Eyes on Success, the Michigan resident teaches fans a lesson on how to stay levelheaded with your vision in the clouds. Over P-Money‘s soul-sampled boardwork, the up-and-comer shares his perspective on the pursuit of big goals, offering some nuanced counsel to young people: “Y’all just toddlers that follow whatever rappers say? Well I’m a rapper, I say go to school and graduate, if it’s an ends to a means, / if you’ve got another plan, man, stick to your dreams.” On the back, Big Time emcee David Dallas aims a few sharp words at his peers in the game, notably advising rappers to lay off “that ‘80s sh*t..” This record isn’t set to appear on any forthcoming album, but those who like what they’re hearing should be sure to check out the official video, viewable here.

Say what you will about the "internet age" of hip hop, but without it a collaboration like this would never be possible. Seriously, how else would expect an emcee from Michigan to hook up with an emcee from New Zealand? I'll wait.
Kudos to both emcees who ended 2010 on a high note and will undoubtedly use records like this to make 2011 equally successful. |

Ha, thanks for the backstory on this collabo. That's crazy, but tight! Real impressed w this track, true hip hop you're listening to. Lyrics are on point and flows right over the beat.

I'm feeling the message behind the track, and the soul production worked well for it. Nice track.

I remember Dallas from his debut Booth feature, and he sounds dope here alongside another nice offering from Buff1. Tight rhymes over a well crafted soul beat never gets old.

This is a pretty nice record from Buff1. He has a very nice flow on this. And really hooks you in. And having David on this was a great choice. He did a good contribution to this. I love the production from P-Money on this. Its a very nice listen. In rotation for me.

Both emcees have a smooth flow over this production. Its a cool head nod jam. I could hear Freeway on this track.
