Since ‘05, Def Jam has been a launching pad for “We Got Next” artists looking to become “Industry Heavyweights.” In the meantime, various artists have jockeyed for position, fighting to become the brand’s “next big thing,” the most current being R&B “boy band” Brutha. While you’ll be seeing plenty more of Grady, Anthony, Jared, Jake, and Cheyan this November, thanks to their upcoming self-titled BET reality show, we thought we’d give you a first look at the Jam’s potential next big thing. On their debut single, it seems the quintet is so focused on their respective ladies that no matter how loud it’s being played, they Can’t Hear the Music being spun. Joining the fellas are labelmate Fabolous and frequent label producer Elvis “BlacElvis” Williams, who both add their swagger to the record. The group’s self-titled debut is set to drop on December 9.
kinda like thiz kinda dont. tha beat didnt reflect their talent...i think they can bring way betta then thiz. but it wuz still ok- i wanna hear more from them 4sure tho.
I didn't really like it to much at first, but after I got past Fabolous' part, the song became more tolerable. The song will probably have to grow on me some more though, but for right now, I'll give it a 3.
I love Fabolous on these R&B features cuz he always kills it! Im digging the production on this one and the background piano music. Solid track. This is a banger!
No real surprise that BET is copying another MTV show with their new style making the band LOL. This song is pretty hot, it's got potential for the clubs or the ride. Fab does his thing bringing a verse to open the joint, similar to what he's been doing in the past. The guys have talent, I'll check em out on TV.
BlacElvis made a nice tempo instrumental. I can dig it. Fab snapped as usual. He definitely served his usual pop song style verse. It served this well. Brutha sounds pretty decent. I like them better than Day26 already. The "I Can't Here the Music" part is my favorite part. It reminds me of an old school style of refrain.
The song is full of potential but it lacks mostly percussion! It’s so POOR: if you notice, it’s only a basic cheap drumming! The piano is annoying after the first minute. The bridge was about to sound good (and become the best part of the song), and then it stopped suddenly?! :s What a waste! Their vocals aren’t bad and I wonder if there is a place for them when they’re not better than already established Day26, One Chance…?
BET copying MTV! What else is new? This is alright. That electric piano is annoying. If they would have used a live one it would sound so much better. The dudes can sing, but I don't like the vocal arrangement. This is ok. I won't be playin it though.
the beat got annoyin, they sound pretty good, i hate the fact they spell their name "brutha", fab came through to do another r&b feature justice, gonna check for more music from them
Simple song with a simple production...I don't think it will be remembered that long but I like it, it can go in my cd mix! Songs by these r&b bands are all of the same type but they are rarely horrible...this is enjoyable! They seem to have talent, I'll look forward to hearing more from them
Believe it or not, there really is a solid open marketplace for all-male black singing group. Day26? 1 album into their career. One Chance? Still waiting on their debut. 112? On a permanent hiatus while 3 members drop solo projects. Jagged Edge? Brian and Brandon Casey are doing a separate project. So, yeah, Brutha can make it in the big leagues. They just need to do so w/o the benefit of a reality show.
FredRico, you must have missed the title fam. LOL. You can't hear the percussion right? They already told you that before you played the song...they couldn't hear it either....lol (was that joke too corny?)
for me i think this song would have been better without fabolous .... he kinda speeds up the song at the intro and it takes awhile to get the feelin of the track .... good hook .... sold production .... could have been better i think
This is something like no other.....yall keep up the good work and well watch you blow up.....you don't really have to worry about the looks cuz it's natural to yall
im in love with dis jam man i always listen to i got it on myspace mann
