Brown Bag All-Stars - League of Intoxicated Gentlemen (S.2 Remix)
Artist: Brown Bag All-Stars
Producer: S.2
Album: The Down Under Remixes (Digi 12")
Label: Nostomania Records
With a name like the “Brown Bag AllStars,” these guys must really love packing lunches, right? Well, if by “lunches” you mean malt liquor and by “packing” you mean drinking, then yeah, that would be pretty much accurate. Judging by their first Booth feature, The League of Intoxicated Gentlemen (S.2 Remix), the N.Y.C. crew are all about alcohol, hard-hitting rhymes, and did I mention boozing it up? Backed by beatsmith S.2‘s tension-fraught electric-guitar production, the emcees combine their powers “like a drunken Voltron,” delivering two-fisted verses laced with lyrically aggressive trash talk. The resulting concoction may be too strong for the faint of heart (faint of… ear?), but those who can handle raw, one-hundred proof underground hip-hop will likely find this joint to their taste. If you fall into that category, you can find LoIG, along with a similarly intoxicating remix by Booth-acclaimed beatsmith M-Phazes, on digital 12” The Down Under Remixes, available now from iTunes.

This is the type of song I would listen to as a kid that had my parents furious. "Turn off that noise!" they would say (clearly I didn't listen). Ahh, memories.
This isn't first BBA joint we've been sent, but its the first that really had me vibing out. The S.2 production is really good and the wide array of vocal contributions from the group balance each other out nicely. |

I wonder what their music is going to sound like after they all graduate from AA...hmmm...
The quirky production is definitely on point; I can take or leave the verses (especially the third and fourth). All things considered, not bad. |

It was great being involved with this remix contest. We had 60+ submissions and this one had my complete attention from start to finish. S.2 out of Australia brought a completely different vibe from the original Denaun Porter produced version. From the smacking drums, spanish guitar riffs, horns and quirky bassline, this remix was completely on point. The beat sort of reminds me of something that Dr. Dre would've done for Eminem or Xhibit years back. It's good to see the BBAS crew make their DJ Booth debut...be sure to cop that 'Down Under Remixes' Digi 12"!!

First off, that has to be one of the best song titles ever. Of all time! (Kanye verse).
When I'm the mood for that real unbalanced underground ish, and I am right now, I'll be sure to come back to this one. @The149th Damn, someone's having a bad day. |

I think they need to open membership to ladies because I want to rep this camp! They came hard on this track and the west coast feel of the production was on point! Dope track

Song seems really dumbed down. Intelligent hip-hop is more my style, but this wasn't bad. Production had it's ups and downs. I feel it really shined during the hook when the extra instrumentals kicked in, but the beat as a whole throughout the majority of the song started to get annoying. I liked the verses and for a second thought I was listening ArtOfficial. Couple improvements here and there would help this track out a lot.

The beat is too annoying. Their flows are mixed. Some are good some are bad. Don't see mself playing this again.

Its not even close to intelligent hip-hop, but it's a banger for me. I liked the production, and like @DJ Z said the group balance each other out nicely.

I like it! A straightforward, no-frills approach to lyricism with a head-banging backdrop to keep us busy. Rotation fa sho!
