Domestic life is addressed relatively seldom in rap; artists are generally more than willing to take listeners to the clubs, the streets, the studio, or the tour bus, but, whether due to privacy concerns or simply because they don’t get to spend much time there, the majority remain vague or silent on what goes on at home. Minne-ap favorite Brother Ali, however, sees no reason to keep mum—as he makes clear on Us lead single Fresh Air, he’s got a happy home life and he’s proud of it. Over Rhymesayers beatsmith Ant‘s funk-soul samples, Ali lets listeners know just how great he’s feeling, giving thanks for his family, friends, and local fanbase and expressing gratitude for such simple pleasures as chilling on the couch, watching Conan. Ali’s distinctive delivery is as attention-grabbing as ever, and his optimism is infectious, to say the least. Realness and positivity are two things that the Booth can’t get enough of, and Fresh Air, refreshingly, has both in spades. Fans can find more thought-provoking underground jams on Us, dropping September 29th off Rhymesayers.

One of the most slept-on artists in the game. Brother Ali is the complete package. The angle here is refreshing, as is his unique and gripping delivery.
Looking forward to this nationwide tour rolling through Chicago this fall. |

I love Ali's "preacher man" voice, especially over a Rhymesayer beat. This beat by Ant is real hot and upbeat, and I love the funk samples. Its great to hear someone just rejoicin and bein thankful for what they got!

Greatful. Bro Ali is the truth. If you not feeling him, you don't have a pulse. I'm not crazy about the beat, but I am about what he's talking bout.

Oh snap. Ant came through with some funky production.
The flow is on point and the hook is illy! I like this a lot. I'm definitely going to cop the album when it comes out! This might be the best one yet! "Twin Cities, y'all know how it goes down"! |

This and "Us" leads me to believe this album is gonna be crazy! tight. Can’t wait to check out the whole album!
Damn! Im feelin' this production. So funky and chill beat that you can't do too dirty. You gotta ride it with a smile on your face and that's what Ali did spittin' about the joys of life rather than being depressed ... BANGER!!! |
