Brother Ali - Breakin' Dawn Boys
Featuring: Fashawn
Producer: BK-One and Brother Ali
Album: Breakin' Dawn Tour Theme Song
Label: Rhymesayers Ent.
Ok, so I just called my chiropractor for the first time since a bad kickball accident I had in ’05 (don’t ask). I told the good doc that I had listened to this new track called Breakin’ Dawn Boys from Fashawn and Brother Ali and uh…yeah it was a neck snapper. Bad jokes aside, it’s safe to say that pairing up the West Coast’s most Illmatic emcee with the monster from Minneapolis makes for a painfully good combo as the two wordsmiths commit lyrical homicide upon this easily flammable BK-One production. Going back and forth every few bars, Fashawn and Ali show why they each have their own respective buzz. Fashawn’s contribution is especially incendiary as he sparks off lines like, “It’s the worlds most innovative, west side infiltrated, independent kid awaited, give it up for Mr. Leyva.” If you’re loving this lively track, make sure to check out BK One, Brother Ali, and Fashawn in a city near you during their Breakin’ Dawn Boys Tour, which begins this week.

First off, dopeness. No question. What's interesting to me is that everyone I talked to about this track today was like "damn, Fashawn went harder than Ali", but I don't relaly hear it. To me they're on the same level. And that's not a diss on anyone, it's a testament to how good both of them are.
If this tour was comin to Cali, I'd be there. |

The beat, simply put is a head-nodding affair. Throw in that raw wit from both Bother Ali and Fashawn, and you got a lyrical BANGER!!! that would have no trouble finding an audience enjoying themselves.

This track has a lot of intensity. I can see this getting the crowd HYPE when performed live. I was surprised because I really feel like Fashawn outshined Ali on this one. I expected the opposite but Fash really stepped up his game. By no means am I saying that Ali came weak, its just that Fashawn came at the beat with a flow I didnt expect and was really feeling.

I saw him live at Soundset last year and his live performance definately doesn't dissapoint. He's quickly become one of the most popular midwest artist and he has yet to forget where he came from. As for this track...kills it as usual. Keep it comin'!

This jont Crank, got that real HipHop feel to it. Alot of Lyric n energy. I jus feel the hook could have been way better compared to the verses. All in all the production was real clean.
