Emcees Pumpkinhead, Block McCloud and Mr. Metaphor, otherwise known as Brooklyn Academy, decided to get their scientific-technologic-metaphysic wordplay on for their new single, Raise Ya Hands. These non-conformists of the ironically-titled Bored of Education committee are not apologizing for making hip hop fans think, in their attempt to bring the genre back to its essence. Since DJBooth heads enjoyed listening to Jean Grae on the remix to Talib Kweli’s Hot Thing, listeners should be able to more than appreciate Grae’s talents on deck, which add propane to the fire that is BA’s wordy-genius. New Jersey producer Illmind provides a methamphetamine-punchy string orchestral production for the emcees to rapidly get ill over. The appropriately-titled Bored of Education is set to drop on September 2.
not feelin the first verse at all it almost made me rate this a one but i listened to the rest of the song, good thing i did. anyways the song is straight i wouldnt listen to it again though
gixxerredliner- I don't think you had time to listen to all these songs full length and comment first, but I agree, this song is wack. Jean Grae did alright
i was havin good feelings thinkn this would b strait....no dice....the kidz from brooklyn better stay n brooklyn with a track like this i dont think they were all on the same page here
Straight old school Hip Hop. Nice to see people still doin what they wanna do, not every song needs to be a club banger. First verse had me bored, but agree with XuUP17 NC on the third verse.
dag...i didn't realize how harsh you guys were here in the booth until something that wasn't lil boosie, webbie or friggin' T.I. gets put up. i shouldn't say that, but it just seems like artists with big names get the most respect in the booth and whenever someone tries to spit with cadence and wordplay there's not that much respect granted. i loved the beat and the rhymes were aight. i won't rate my own contribution.
I would like to second Erica's sentiments about the lack of respect for a diverse range of music. Just because something isn't played on 106 & Park, doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a chance. Not to mention, it is very easy to recognize that someone (or in this case a group of someones) have talent, but that said talent just isn't your style. Lastly, gixxerredliner, if you continue to leave this type of feedback, it will simply be removed.
Nicely put Erica L. The only reason I even started to rate music on the site is because of comments posted by users such as gixxerredliner. I've notice many of the independent projects don't get much love here unless it was done by a well known name or produced by one. Music is still music man... just keep an open mind to it.
The beat is ill as hell. Jean is a problem. Probably the best female emcee out today easily. She ripped the hell out of this beat. Don't know why nobody feels this but whatever. I never really listened to BA but they def did there thing here.
Honestly I kind of like it. Lot of hate on this one but ya I like this beat its legit my head is bobbin to the beat. But yeah I like this track and I like the Female representation on here too she's tight with her flow.
