Can you give love an inch without it taking a mile? I’m inclined to answer in the negative—after all, if an experienced crooner like Brian McKnight can be taken by surprise when casual romance explodes into burning passion, what hope is there for the rest of us? On the lead single off his forthcoming Evolution of a Man LP (and the artist’s first Booth feature), What I’ve Been Waiting For, the 20-year-plus industry veteran finds himself head over heels for a woman who entered his life just when he thought he was too busy for love; needless to say, those formerly-pressing items on his to-do list no longer seem quite so important. Packed with soulful expressions of undying devotion, overdubbed melismatic runs, and glowing synth ambiance (McKnight mans the boards as well as the mic here), this track is sure to sweep our resident soul-lovers off their feet. If you’re a fan of timeless, starry-eyed R&B balladry, circle November 10th on your calendars—something tells me EoaM will be just what you’ve been waiting for.

This man has been one of my favorite (and most consistant) R&B singers of the past 15 years. His catalog LAPS today's generation and this record proves he still has "it."
Unlike many artists who sign deals with E1 (Koch), McKnight will be able to (truly) prosper because of his longstanding place in the industry and his steady following.

This song reminds me of some old Backstreet Boys track not even going to lie, Brian is one of the most soulful people to ever grace the microphone and even though his age might be getting older his voice is still amazing and he can still use it now as he could years ago. Amazing song, the production fits it PERFECTLY and Brians vocals are nothing but top notch.

Once again, one of the Greats. This is a very strong record for BMK. After preserving his dignity on Celebrity Apprentice, he hits the world with a ready single that has just enough bass to connect with the young folks and just enough Rhythm and Blues and heartfelt lyrics to keep his core fan base. The more I hear this song, the more I grow to love it!

Definitely ain't feeling this as much as ya'll. Can't front on either vocals or production but it lacks or better doesn't have a very catchy melody to speak of and is a bit too slow for me. But I will put it in rotation and give it a couple chances to grow on me ... Rotation fa sho!

You can never go wrong playing some Brian McKnight when you chillin with a lady friend!! I'm glad to hear some real R&B in this era of overly annoying, overused auto-tune!! Such a good song and props to him for also producing it!! |
