Brandy may be one of the best selling female artists of all time, but you wouldn’t know it from anything she’s done in the past half-decade. This side of the millennium has been cruel to the late nineties queen of bedroom R&B, as her past two albums have failed to approach the commercial and critical success that her first two, Brandy and Never Say Never, were received with. But don’t start calling her over the hill, yet; she is currently putting the finishing touches on her fifth studio album, Human (November 11), and if its lead single is any indication, a comeback might just be in the air. Right Here (Departed) has all the makings of this fall’s No Air, but with a more established name attached to it. The new Brandy sounds as full-voiced as ever over Darkchild’s empowering beat, turning in some of her best work to date. Check it out.
Glad to see Brandy coming back. Maybe she's flipping the tables and riding off of her brothers success this time?? I love the production from Darkchild, in a way this is their comeback as well. Chorus is hot and the mixing is well constructed. This song has got potential, not her best but worthy of steady radio play.
This is a strong song 4 Brandy. She has gone through alot lately and its good to see her still doin what she loves well. Prduction is hot. For some reason I would add Chris Breezy on the duet with this one. That would make it official.
Darkchild always Rips the beats! Strong production on this track for sure. Brandy still has a change. This track is a nice throw-back old Brandy right here. I think this is a BANGER!
hmmm this song doesn't seem any different from any other Brandy song I have listened to...I like her song escape though...ummmm its alright...a lil safe for me...i dont see that growth in this song..
Oooo....look at my baby Brandy . She looking so good. Where she been man? I ain't heard anything from her since "Talk About Our Love" in 2004 & "Bring Me Down" on Kanye West's "Late Registration. That's funny you referenced Jordin Sparks smash hit Charlie, because before I even read your review, I already identified that it sounded like a track our 2006 American Idol winner could have laced nicely. But for the veteran Brandy, she really served it up nicely. This should get good pop & R&B radio play and serve as a wonderful comeback. I love the title of her new album. She is a "Human" just like everyone else and we need to start identifying our stars like that and stop treating them different. We all make mistakes, fall down and get back up. It's called life baby!
Definitely loving this song, BRANDY IS BACK! Her voice is GREAT over the Darkchild production. I will be looking forth to her album if she releases more powerful songs like this. 4 Stars, because this is a Banger~(**)~
Very sweet song...her voice is super like always, and Darkchild always does good productions! I don't know how a typical Brandy's song is (I know some singles by her but I have never followed her career) but this is really good. I can't say whether this is a growth or a step back, I'll just say it's a banger!!
Brandy? Where has she been? She has not have a great impact musically in the 21st century. Hopefully that is about to change. I wonder if she is going to team-up with her brother (Ray-J) in this new album.
GREAT comeback single. And yes, it's a comeback. She has been gone for a while, had major issues outside of music, and now she is back. Not Michael "I'm Back" back, but back. Get it?
Nice track. Darkchild laced the beat nicely. Anybody else think she looks alot like Gabrielle Union in the pick tho??? No complaints from me, i'm just sayin.
wtf?? how am i the only one giving this joint a 1???? garbage. she sounds off beat, she's screaming not singing ( ... too high pitched), beat sucks...
someone help me! i am not hearing all them 4's... no way, never.
=)
peace.
Sad that the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Brandy's name was Ray-J and then my mind wandered to a certain tape.... Didn't really pay attention to the song
