Back in May 2009, Brandon Hines brought us Find You, a promo single on which the indie R&B mainstay vowed to keep searching for the perfect woman, no matter how long it took to find her. Fast-forward almost precisely a year, and not only has the Motown native scored a major deal, but he’s finally tracked down that special woman. Be that as it may, things aren’t going quite as he’d planned on the romantic tip. On I’m in Love, the singer struggles with the decision to walk out of a rocky relationship with a girl who just might be the one. Downbeat as the subject matter may be, the combo of Hines’ emotive vocals and the mournful, piano-driven boardwork of Jermaine Dupri & Bryan-Michael Cox (the former of whom also contributes a few lines to the hook) will likely win the hearts of our resident R&B-lovers. If you like what you’re hearing, keep it locked for the latest on Brandon Hines’ forthcoming full-length, which has yet to receive a title or release date from the So So Def/Revel Music Group/Heir Music brass.

This song first appeared on the R&B / Pop Chart on May 17, 2010

I've been yearning for some mature, grown and enjoyable R&B and Mr. Hines comes to the rescue! (No offense to anyone who has submitted R&B music lately, but it hasn't been very good).

Hines vocals have matured since last we heard from him and he sounds excellent on this single. With production muscle like JD and BMC behind him there is really no telling how far he can go. This is a winner.

The first half minute or so, was a bit slow, but it gradually got better. The production is definitely nice. Vocals are smooth.

I didn't like it all that much for the first 40 seconds, but after that it got better. His voice is good, but at some points it annoyed me a little.

Brandon Hines is one of those artists that the booth really brought to my attention. After hearing Find You with Ryan Leslie I was an instant fan. His single Weather is a real classic as well. This song isn't as good as the two mentioned above, but it definitely has it's moments.

Brandon's voice is smooth, relaxing and passionate. He is the total R&B package plus more considering he puts out some amazing tracks. Verses on this were good, but Jermaine is not needed. He did not add much as he only had a short appearance. His production, however was pretty sick. This is a pretty cool song.

JD is a continually great producer. A good solid RnB song here and this dude is going to make noise for himself not just for the young but the grown also. It's refreshing to hear a more grown song, don't know what 'Djkidd' is saying. Great song.

This falls under "If it's not broke. Don't Fix It" enjoyable R&B. This is good. Hines' vocals are smooth, the production is well above average, the Chorus is catchy and the mix is excellent.

Brandon Hines is the Pau Gasol of R&B! He is highly underrated and his shine is tooken away from the more "mainstream" artists yet he produces like a top notch player. His vocals are consistent, polished, and smooth which are the adjectives to describe the 7 foot Spaniard on the hardwood.

This song is smooth and JD fits in well in the background. This is a great song overall!

My post either go deleted or I never submitted it..bummer

Ryan should stick to producing and R&B leave the rapping for Rappers. Hines has an amazing display of talent in this song and I'm pretty sure he could hold this track all by himself. Nice bath time record could do without the insecure pretty girl comment. Nice choice for a promo single...

Yikes to my first comment :/ right artist wrong song...no bueno

Hines sounds equally nice as he does in Find You. Nice to see consistency in his talent. Kudos to JD's minimal vocal influence just enough to highlight the track but not enough to make me nauseated. The production is amazing. I'm curious if the slow jams are Brandon's type of music or is he capable of making more upbeat songs. Regardless he is good at what he has put out thus far...

and then enters the Usher sound-a-likes. Another corny song about a very real subject matter, but done very poorly. I don't hear any emotion on this track, I don't here the angst and pain he describes.

to Dupri: get off the mic and just sit down behind the boards.

Right off the bat that production really blew me away. Damn you JD, but you do know how to craft one hell of a catchy r&b jam.

As for the vocals, Hines didn't blow me away, but he didn't have to. His smooth out vocals fit the track's vibe perfectly. Like Z said, we don't get much grown and sexy r&b these days, so thanks to Hines for supplying it. Cut JD's vocals and we're looking at near perfection.

JD knows a good singer when he meets them and gives them the tracks they need to blow up (or at least splat on the charts for a second) and this is the case with Brandon. Good song, love the lyrics and his voice is smooth! Silky

I've been loving this man from the beginning...from the moment I heard the songs"10", "Where Did You Go". This is what R&B has been missing for so long. I hear sincerity in his music & which is hard to get from artists when the big dogs are busy pulling their strings.

Its sad we don't even have music appropriate enough to play at weddings...I depending on Mr. Hines to bring that music back...that music that has you feeling nostalgic. There should be something new yet familiar about music & thats why I love him. I expect great great things from him.

kinda confused. on one hand im loving jd and bmc's production work and bradon's smooth vocals but on the other hand there is no "meat" to the song, the vocals are good but leave a lot to be desired, there doesnt seem to be much structure, the hook is there but sometimes it falls in with the verses too easily.

Good slow jam with on-point production by JD. Writing is nothing new (or immediately catchy) but admirable at all times. And with a good combination of vocal chops it's pleasant enough. Brandon's voice got that mature tone to carry it nicely, but in total probably not a record I'll play a lot. A bit dull, to be honest. 2.5
