Shady Records is notorious for constantly delaying their artists’ albums, a trait probably inherited from parent label Aftermath. However, a perfect plan to get their sets in stores might finally have been reached; in ‘07 Ca$his released his County Hound EP, which set a buzz for his upcoming debut, Loose Cannon (currently set to drop July 25). Hoping the same formula will work so the world can finally hear A Brilliant Mistake, Atlanta’s Bobby Creekwater plans to release his own prequel EP in May, tentatively titled Second Hand Smoke. Once again hooking up with classic piano-sounding production (this time provided by veteran The Alchemist), Bobby Creek takes the moment to vent about everything he’s seen that makes him mad, thus F*ckin Up My Cool. Hopefully his “cool” will not be ruined further and the Second Hand Smoke EP will spark enough fan interest in A Brilliant Mistake.
The xylophone intro is cool. Song is a little slow but this track is not layered properly. I don't like the production that much. Initially, it keeps you interested but it lags. I am highly disappointed by this song because I like the instruments--especially the violin riff.
Bobby's new EP is going to be fully produced by The Alchemist and his LP is going to be exec-produced by Emine. With all this talent, he will most certainly shine. (Look for Bobby's new interview feature on DJBooth, later this month).
There’s nothing missing on this song! NOT EVERY SONG HAS TO BE BANGING TO BE GOOD! I’m feeling the production and I LIKE IT AS IT IS AND NOT AS I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE. Rate it on its own genre! Bobby Creek is better than the average so there’s no wonder some people won’t dig his style: even though he brings solid flow and lyrics, the public is terribly used to the same old garbage. EVERY SINGLE SOUND DETAIL ON THE PRODUCTION IS NICE, but the violin steals the show when it comes. Two thumbs up for The Alchemist!
i agree with fred the violins steals the show which is not good for an unestablish artists. i had a hard time listenin to the lyric because of the good production.......i guess this song is not my cup of tea
This track is unique the way the beat and his flow go perfectly together . Fred hit it right on with his comments, but i cant rate this track that high . Good effort on this one.
This is hot! I like the production a lot. I will admit I was waiting for an epic kick to drop and stuff. That actually would've been a good thing to do. But Bobby's flow is pretty darn crispy and the beat once again is just that deal.
Haha, sorry if I hyped the violin part DONJONJON, it can ruin something when you expect that much; and I admit I overrated the song (Da Bo$$), it’s more a 4* to me, but I knew people would go on giving it 1* ratings (thanx PattyPatty85), so I was tryin to fix it already...
FredRico it's not my fault!! this is something different, for sure, but I don't really like it...it's sooo boring! I love energic beats, this is only a voice singing lol
PattyPatty85, that is exactly what is wrong with hip hop. Everyone goes for the "energetic beat" and in the end everything ends up the same. He did something different and I think he did it well. This song won't get radio play, but it is definitely solid
See dmase, I'm not anglo-saxon and I don't understand what rappers say, they talk too fastly for me. If they only talk, then what am I listening to? I like hip hop coz I like its hot beats. I repeat, this is something different but also something I just can't appreciate...anyway it is well done for sure!
This is pretty weak to me. I don't even think he fits in well under the Shady Interscope umbrella. I wouldn't be surprised if his album never comes out. The beat was one of the worst I have ever heard from Alchemist...
lol FredRico I agree wit u lots of peeps be ratin songs lower than they should be. I rated it a 2 cause i woulda felt bad rating it 1. and ya'll need to stop hatin on Patty so much. Sure, she rates songs way lower than they merit, but as a foreigner it's easy to just dismiss songs from a different culture. hell, i'm sure i'd dismiss everything that came outta her country too LOL
leave patty alone let her listen and rate whats she likes don't get mad if she hates a song and you like it. everyone has different opinions about music that why you find music you like
Dmase no prob, really...we are here to rate and discuss! Boss thank you but nevermind, I love sharing opinions FredRico I dismiss anything that come outta my country, too LOL
Very very cool production.. I am sort of tired of the "if it's not a banger, it's not @*#$!" attitude." I am looking very forward to checking out the rest of this album. I am definetely feeling this one.
I know PATTY, I’m not mad at you cuz you rated it a 1… it was just an example But dmase1202 somehow said one of the reasons we should be more open minded when it comes to appreciate songs (one day all songs will be the same?!). I’m a foreigner too (Portugal) and I understand your situation about the lyrics Patty, but I really like the production in this case; I often listen to more laid back songs, you know, acoustic material (I’m down for any hot bassline, rhythm guitar, varied percussion instrument) , chill out and stuff (hmm… stuff DONJONJON would dismiss, right? Lol)… so, I guess you’d be better served if you had a wider taste.
FredRico I like many songs here...and I love many other songs that are not in here, too! it's just that I don't like this...it's simple lol! Anyway you are right, songs will be getting all similar! That's why I also look for unknown rappers, think that I listen to a German rapper and I'm in love with him... To me he's very talented and original. I also like other genres, for example metal
OK so everybody sticks up for PattyPatty when she iz kinda getting hated on for her ratings/her comments but then no one sticks up for me when i leave mine.....HAHA! but Patty u did stick up 4 me once when people did da same on me...so thxx again:)...o i think FredRico did too:) LOL again...DIS iz too funny!
Lol WOW!! well I don't really care if everybody hates me...I have my own tastes, I leave my own comments, I don't offend anyone and this site is free...and people are free not to read me
WOW!! PattyPatty u r a gud role model for anybody...really. i guess i shouldnt real-e care if people hate me 4 wut i like too. huh....u r very inspirational(i think dats da right word...lol).
Auhauhauhauh thank u WOW!! See in every "bad" situation there's always something to save. For example, everybody hates me but you don't lol! Well I think "hate" is a big word, they just don't agree with most of my tastes/comments...probably because I belong to another musical culture and I have to get used to this. They say I've not wide tastes, but if I'm here it means I don't like only things that come out of my country so my tastes/musical choiches are wider than they think lol
