B.o.B - Airplanes
Artist: B.o.B
Producer: Alex da Kid
Album: B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray
Label: Rebel Rock/Grand Hustle/Atlantic
Everyone knows that shooting stars are an ideal medium for wishing, but what if you’ve got a wish so urgent you can’t simply stand around, waiting for a comet to cross the sky? On yet another single off his long-awaited debut set, B.o.B suggests an answer to this dilemma: change the rules so Airplanes are also fair game. This introspective cut finds the ATL phenom delivering some characteristically conflicted meditations on the musician’s life over a tuneful, piano-led beat by Alex Da Kid. Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams handles chorus duties, injecting the track with a dose of catchy, ever-so-slightly angstful pop-rock. It’s clear from this track that B.o.B’s wishing for a crossover hit – will he get what he desires? I’ll leave it to the readers to speculate. In any case, you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the longtime Booth fave’s hotly-anticipated freshman effort, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, on the 27th, when it hits record stores and online retailers via Grand Hustle/Rebel Rock/Atlantic.

Honestly, when I heard this was going to be a single, I was dissapointed. I mean, at first glance Hayley Williams on a Hip-Hop record just didn't seem like something I would be interested in. But on first listen, I was extremely suprised! Beat is pretty sick, versus are pretty good, and the chorus is VERY GOOD.

This song is definitely going to be the next most successful song after nothin' on you. Hayley is very strong on this track. B.o.B is a very intellectual person who holds meaning behind each line. He makes sure he is the same person as he was on his mixtapes which is great.

I've been bumping this ALL day. I was so happy I woke up early this morning, because so much good stuff dropped around like 8AM today (Drake's OVER video, Melanie Fiona's AYO video, and this.).
This is exactly where hip hop music is headed. I’ve been a big fan of Paramore, so I was hooked when the record first came on. I loves me some Hayley Williams. This will be BIG! I can’t wait to hear the remix with Em. I can hear him on this now! B.O.B has got the formula man! This is the new era of music! Anybody else hating on this needs a life correction. |

Damn B.O.B. has got a lot of momentum going into his release and this song is only to get that going even more so. This has a lot of potential to be another cross-over hit along with Nothin On You.
I can't lie, the chorus by Williams is perfect for this song too. B.O.B. never ceases to amaze me with what he does and I hope he blows up as much as Drake (I already consider him Grand Hustles Drake if you will). Even just the concept of this song will push the record. I mean why can't I think of things like this. Won't be long before this will be played as the last song at a prom haha. |

The show here is utterly stolen by Hayley Williams. Paramore has never been one of my favorite bands but Hayley has got an incredible voice.
I can't wait to hear Eminem's contribution on this when Part II is released. |

Honestly, Hayley Williams on a hip hop track will get any music lover's attention. But it could also end up as a major hit or major flop. B.o.B definitely has a major MAJOR hit on his hands.
This song has sooooo much crossover appeal, it's crazy. If this isn't flying up the charts ASAP i'll be confused. Don't forget part II, with Eminem's verse, should be INSANE. |

Wow. I am almost certain now that everytime I turn on a B.o.B song, I am going to be hearing something special. This right here is no different. Hayley Williams KILLS the hook with her exceptional singing vocals, and B.o.B seems to drop a wonderful with every single bar. Top it off with wonderful production, and you now have a single that has risen my anticipation for this cd even more. Any one else think this is gonna be a classic?

@ ChubbyRhyno: Yes i do believe this will be a classic. So far the worst track ive heard was Bet I, but even that was worthy of a 4 star rating (it grew on me a lot). Then i look at the tracklist and just dont see how all of the other songs wont be good. The titles make them sound good!

I feel the exact same way about Bet I. Its really grown on me, because I think every verse is actually pretty good, even Playboy Tre (and especially T.I) If I'm not mistaken, I think Bobby is releasing the song Magic with Rivers Cuomo (of Weezer) next week as one last push before the release in two weeks. The anticipation is off the charts

B.o.B. has another hit on his hands, this is a really dope track that should be another top 20 track.
I never realised Hayley Williams had that good of a voice, you dont really notice that when listeing to Paramore (I knew she had a alright voice, but not that good). B.o.B once again delivered, enough said. I love the fact that B.o.B has been able to craft another hit without compromising his artistic integrity, other rappers need to take notes on what this guys doing. 4.5 |

@Aussie_Pride: it's funny that you say "you dont really notice that (Hayley Williams has a good voice) when listening to Paramore", cuz anyone who ever actually listened to Paramore knows that. But I bet you never heard a Paramore album, live show or a youtube acoustic video for that matter, have you? ;)
But I understand this misconception people may have, the association with "Twilight" (with one of their weakest songs) is what made them really famous and that's not a good look. :p |

What B.o.B is doing can be admired, its kinda bringing a hip hop flavor to other genre's of music. On this one its not as effective as 'Nothing On You'. I feel the two genre's in this song are two far apart to mesh together and make a nice song.

wow ever since i started following this guy on youtube and listening to his off the wall aproach to musik ive become a big fan.
his colab with my favorite artist in the game:T.I im that n***A got me especially hooked to his musik. wow i can feel the soulfulness from the pramore alumni and her sooth harmonious chorus over the piano synth drum instrumental is definitely heart touching. bobby ray pulls his weight in more ways then one on this track and doesnt dissapoint. its tracks like these, tracks that move the soul, and elevate you mind thought process that i really love and they did an exceptional job on this track. "back when i tried to cover up my slang, but this is for bobby ray" really shows he put his thought and personality in this song definitely a memorable track on this album many i feel touched and the title is just so fitting too the song all in all its a comlete banger and wouldnt b surprised if it was given a classic. defiantly heavy play for my mp3 player (sorry yall for way too much info but this is why djbooth is a regular site visit for me, its song like these that make waiting for the new realeases worth it) great find djbooth. |

This might very well be my favourite B.o.B. track by him, I've been playing it ALL day. A let's be honest, few artists could've pulled this song on with THIS hook (which is freakin' perfect), let alone the general song and make it sound this good, and not just the average Joe's single.

B.o.B does his thing again. he really does have an ear for melodies and music in general. He knows how to get his point across and the beat helps sync the hip hop and rock worlds together nicely. 4.5

B.o.B. continues to deliver good songs. I definitely agree about him being the best at incorporating urban pop, staying true to his ATL sound, yet being able to crossover to mainstream.
The hook is fitting, while B.o.B.'s introspection is much appreciated. More serious of a track, compared to his other releases, but radio friendly nonetheless. The only problem I had was with the ending, kinda abrupt. But that's nitpicking and I'm lookin forward to the album. |

Damn, BOB does it again. This has all the makings of a hit. The only thing I'd say is that it's a pretty short track. Add a typical Em guest verse and this is going to be a ridiculous single.
I've been a fan of BOB since Haterz, it's great to see him on the brink of exploding. He's not the most skilled rapper but his originality is why he's where he is. |

Hayley Williams was a clutch feature choice for this song. Her image with paramore is no doubt exciting and even flamboyant but the fact that she is able to bring down her voice to fit the calm smooth flow of this song creates a feeling in the listener that gets you hooked on the chorus despite the fact that it comes from a non-hip-hop artist. B.O.B. once again delivers and continues to make a solid name for himself. Can't wait for the album to drop!

Hayley drops some very heartfelt lines on hook. Bobby comes hard as ever and is only highlighted by Hayleys B-E-A-utiful voice. This WILL be a huge radio hit! On another note Em will tear this beat up! I cant wait to see how B.o.B. and Hayley hold up to the all out assualt Em is sure to give us on this cut. |

I would never have expected this type of a crossover record with the singer from Paramore...It's probably what made me dislike the song. I just cant go for this type of hook with her singing. B.O.B. could have done the hook himself and then I would have loved it. His verses though are amazing and the song should do really well on the pop radio stations and the Hot 100. It's a good song for the everyday person, bur it won't be something I can really jam to.

Thank you, B.O.B. A.K.A. Bobby Ray for introducing me to the lead singer of Paramore, because I am now going to listen to their album. That's how I find new artists for my podcast or for personal listens. Utada Hikaru by Foxy Brown, Big Ron by Fingazz and Slow Pain. When you have a recognizable artist backing a newcomer, there's high hopes for the artist welcoming their music into your life.
The song itself, mad muh'@*#$!' to Alex Da Kid for this edgy pop goes hip hop beat. Bob killed it, Hayley graced it. It was heaven and hell all in perfect harmony, a feeling I picked up through Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's earlier music. Unfortunately, I am disappointed. Disappointed for the fact I won't be able to play either version of "Airplanes" on my podcast next month; it's being reserved for Pocos Pero Locos. Still, a standout among the rest. |

Bobby Ray is the future. The dude cannot make a bad song, and I love what Ive heard from the album so far. Its sure to be one of the best 2010 has to offer.
This isnt hip-hop, this is good music. |

B.O.B. kills this, he's a talented dude, straight up. I like Paramore but her singing style didnt mesh that well to me personally, I kinda got used to it at the end tho. 3.5 stars

Wow! If you throw Eminem on this it's the number one song on iTunes. I kid you not. This album is shaping up to be the BEST in a long time.

I'm all about some B.O.B. right now as most are. But its not just b/c he's popular. He actually deserves all the hype he's getting right. Its long awaited, fresh, music. He's very talented and collabs well with others. He doesn't loose his personal style on this song which you would think that it could be over-shadowed by the hook which is so different, but it doesn't, its a great combination. B.O.B. does it again... Classic!

I love this track. The total concept is dope. Hayley's vocals add a lot and B.O.B.'s verses were all strong.

As if there aren't enough ratings and good feedback already, Hayley killed the chorus without doing too much. And B.o.B will get his wish, the album will be fire.

I've been a fan of Hayley for a while, she has a very distinct voice that you hear a lot emotion from. B.O.B's rhymes i get the same vibe from. Solid performance
