If you couldn’t get enough of B.o.B‘s latest Booth success, Airplanes, our beloved ATL hit machine has come to us yet again with another sure-to-be smash: Airplanes (Pt. 2). I can’t speak on how eco-conscious Bobby Ray is, but although Pt. 2 is a sequel, it’s definitely not recycled goods. Paramore’s Hayley Williams sticks around for the hook, but with the addition of Eminem‘s increasingly disturbing presence on the track, Airplanes propels itself even higher than the clouds it reached before. It’s arguably better than the original, but simply within the context of this record (without comparing) it’s difficult to determine whether Em adds value or simply maintains the status quo already set by B.o.B. If you’re predisposed to prefer the shadier things in life, though, this might quickly become you new favorite jam. You’ve already set aside cash to pick up The Adventures of Bobby Ray when it drops on April 27, right?

This song first appeared on the Rap Chart on May 3, 2010

Although plenty of the elements from the original version are still present in the Pt. 2, I don't necessarily think it's better. Adding Em doesn't hurt, but I feel I already knew everything he spit in his verse. So glad Hayley's vocals were maintained, and B.o.B.'s verses seemed a bit more in tune with the theme of the track this time around. I gave it a 5 last time, Pt. 2 will receive the same. The track is more than banger, really hits home.

I will prolly get chewed out for saying this, but I like Part I better. I'll get to why in a second.

First, Hayley Williams' chorus is still a show stopper here. I have heard at least 5 different people singing it in the week since it has come out. I can only imagine how much more I will be hearing it once this is being played over and over on the radio in a few weeks.

I actually do like B.O.B.'s verses better on this part than the original. They are much more mellow and play better with the chorus. If this song stopped after his verses, it would be the better version of this song, but O Marshall, you never do us wrong, but yea I am going to go there.

Okay so Eminem's verse was raw and strong, but I don't think that's what this song was made for. This isn't a song about anger and pain as much as it is suppose to be about hope. Yea his verse was ill in its wordplay but it didn't fit on this track in my opinion. I just don't think this song called for that sort of verse, maybe on a different song, but not this one.

But this is still a banger though.

How can adding Eminem to a 4-star song not improve said song? Exactly, it cannot. You got me, Bobby. You got me.

I was driving just this afternoon when the New at Two threw this in the mix and it wondered how long the booth would wait to put this on. You are never a disappointment. PLeasantly pleased when I heard Em on the remix it's a good look for him.

Thank you B.o.B. for two new verses on this a remix. Even the delivery is different but the content is relatively the same. And I'm sorry to disagree with you *DJ Brookllen* but Eminem flourishes on this remix catering his talent to fit the mood of the song. Brings back memories of Stan but deeper and less suicidal. Yes I'll agree that Em takes a harder approach on the song than B.o.B. does but I don't think it hinders the track. I think it gives the song an edge that B.o.B. couldn't give himself.

It's almost two different songs with the benefit of not getting tired of either because of their differences. Repeat Please.

@DJ Brookllen, I'm with you. First was better in my opinion too.

Although this new version does contain a pretty sick Eminem verse, I just don't like it as much as the first one. B.O.B.'s verses in this one, were just not as impressive as they were on pt. 1. Of course that is my opinion.

If there is one thing that I'm not really feeling about this track It's the way both MCs start off their verses with "Lets pretend...." Kind of gets old after a while if I do say so myself. The small change in production brought it down a little bit too.

On to the good points now. Eminem murdered his verse like many predicted and the fact that Hayley even contributed a little extra bit of vocals near the end made this track almost (almost) as good as the first one. Still a good track that is gonna blow up regardless of what I think.

Dope song, though I thought the Eminem & B.o.B. collaboration would of sounded better then this to be honest.

Part 1 was a dope track because all elements blended together to make the best track released in 2010. The hook, the production & B.o.B. just suited one another.

In Part 2, Eminem's aggresive verse just didnt suit the rest of the track. His first 8 bars were alright, though his psychotic side toward the end just wasnt that enjoyable to hear.

Dont get me wrong, Eminem overall spat a good verse though it just didnt 100% suit this song.

Part 1 I feel is the better of the two tracks. Maybe if i hadnt heard the original, I may have loved this song more.

Let's pretend there was no pt.1, that B.o.B. didn't come up with new verses and the beat didn't change, like it was an average "remix"... but we wouldn't be talking about B.o.B. otherwise.

This pt.2 actually made me realize how catchy the guitar and sound effects in the background of pt.1 were. We get a more sober version, but an even more emotionally captivating one also.

I genuinely wish B.o.B's wishes come true, cuz he has the potential to move the world with his music.
He doesn't need to be a lyrical beast, he's a complete musician and accordingly, aims more than that.

It seems like the beat adapted to Eminem's deep lyrics, so I wonder how it would sound if they kept the original beat and only changed after that bridge for Eminem. Maybe that would be the better version.

Hayley blessed this song with her wonderful vocals.

The original song was a banger in itself. With Eminem jumping in and straight killing his verse makes this song so much better than the original. B.o.B's new verse is more in sync than the first part also. The chorus was already perfect so really good choice on keeping it the same. I rated the first one a 5 which in fact that one more likely deserves a 4 with a few listens to it. With this Eminem verse and B.o.B verse definitely makes it a 5 stars. Great job definitely buying this album.

In this song B.o.B. continues his song of Airplane as it says it in the title. The chorus is no different from the first one.

In this song, B.o.B. changes his verse from his first one which I though his flow was a bit better and lyrics more deeper. He also added a bridge into this song and right after it Eminem A.k.a. Slim SHady A.k.a. Marshall mathers and some others names that your gonna have to google if you want to know it.

After the Bridge Eminem comes in and starts off calm becomes more tense as it goes along. He raps about what if he didn't rapped, had no dream, and had a normal happy life, which B.o.B. also rapped in both songs. Eminem's verses seemed emotionally driven which he is famous for.

Overall, this was a great song but I would usually listen to this song alone, because its kinda wierd to listen to the chorus with another person along. But thats just me so whatever and again this is definitely a great song!

yes yes yes yes yes im finally back too b.o.b and hayley williams damn she cute HOLLLAAAAAAAA.

anyways beat=great

lyrics=phenominal

but the mix up into the ohhhh buy Hayley in the beginning is immediately stunner i loving the mix up plus the new lyrics by bob i wasnt really expecting im loving there non complacent attatck too this song right here because they actually too the time too make a new song instead of a regular remix.

yes yes dj brookllen i feel you on the eminem critic. its a story told raw, i see myself right now looking into the eyes of eminem and wathing his lyrics portray themselves within the glossyness of his eyes.

i dont think one person made this sing but instead the colab of all. it was also nice too see bob mix it up more so that eminems new verses didnt over outshine bob but instead complimented the whole song nicely.

i gave the first rendition a banger but this track deserves better its emotionaly it tugs at your heart and it moves the soul and for that it gets a classic, what a trully great song from all three great artist

SHOUT OUT TOO ALEX THA KID ONCE AGAIN FOR PRODUCING AND EMOTIONALLY GRIPPING SOUND TRACK. BIG UPS TOO ALL INVOLVED A TRULY GREAT TRACK!

I LOVED part 1, so I had high hopes when I heard Eminem was going on part 2. B.o.B's verses were a little better on this track. And i liked that Hayley's vocals were left intact. But surprisingly, Eminem's guest spot seemed out of place. He did his insane flow on this song, which seemed weird. But anyway, this song is still a banger.

Lets pretend like its 98, like I’m eating lunch off of Styrofoam trays
trying to be the next rapper coming out the A
hoping for a record deal, to re-know my pain
now lets pretend like I’m on the stage
and when my beat drops everybody goes insane (okay)
And everybody know my name (BoB)
and everywhere I go people wanna hear me sang
Oh yea and I just dropped my new album
on the first week I did 500 thousand
Gold in the spring and Diamond in the fall
and then a world tour just to top it all off
and lets pretend like they call me the greatest
selling out arenas with big a$$ stages
and everybody loved me and no one ever hated
lets try to use imagination

Okay, let’s pretend like this never happened
like I never had dreams of being a rapper
like I didn’t write raps in all of my classes
like I never used to runaway into the blackness
now lets pretend like it was all good
like I didn’t live starring in a notebook
like I did the things I probably knew I should
but I didn’t have neighbours that’s why they call it hood
Now lets pretend like I ain't got a name
before they ever called me B-o-B or a.k.a Bobby Ray
I’m talking back before the mixtapes
before the videos and the deals and the fame
before they ever once compared me to Andre
before I ever got on Myspace
before they ever noticed my face
so let’s just pretend and make wishes out of airplanes

[Hayley Williams]
Can we pretend that airplanes

Let’s Pretend Marshall Mathers never picked up a pen
let’s pretend things would’ve been no dif-fer-ent
pretend people procrastinated had no motivation
pretend he just made excuses that was so paper thin they could blow away with the wind
Marshall you never gone make it, makes no sense to play the game it ain’t no way that’ll you win
pretend he just stand out side all day and play with his friends
pretend he even had a friend to say was his friend
and it wasn’t time to move in school no changing again
he wasn’t socially awkward and just strange as a kid
he had a father and his mother wasn’t crazy as sh!t
and he never dreamed he can ripped stadiums he just lazy as sh!t
fcuk a talent show in the gymnasium b!tch
You won’t amount to sh!t quit day dreaming kid
you need to get ya cranium check you thinking like an alien
It just ain’t realistic
now pretend they ain’t just make him angry with this sh!t
and there was no one he could even aim when he’s pissed with
and his alarm went off to wake him but he didn't make it to the rap Olympics
left to his plane and he missed it

The song feels like the initial struggle of an underdog. In Contrast to part one, this song embodies perseverance against the inertia of doubt and disbelief.

The subtlety of piano now caresses the sharp beat, giving the song a hint of flashback. We are really listening to the past of Bobby Ray.

I think what Eminem brings to the song with his verse is that shade of anger evident in so many of his songs. With struggle comes anger. And the transition from Bobby Ray to Eminem before the last verse is a testament to that uncertainty. Not knowing whether you will make it. Doubt always creeps up on you no matter how confident you are. It is a part of realizing your dream.

If part one was of celebration, then part two is its grim twin. This song speaks the reality of Bobby Ray's rising stardom. That there were indeed dark times during his continuing journey. Let go, but never forget.

All those who love the joint but slightly unsatisfied with Eminem's approach, I highly suggest y'all to re-read @Sons of Ireland excellent feedback.

A verse centered around "brushing off haters/naysayers" don't come better than this. He is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper when he channels his emotions in such an effective manner while maintaining his unsettling self-deprecating edge along the way. And his flow lately... sounds like he is following a strict diet plan which includes nothing but hungry unsigned broke-ass rappers.

No, I ain't a stan (to me there's Kanye West and then everyone else), but this ish is too fcukin undeniable.
