With pushy music labels, overeager managers, flip-flopping fans, and other music industry nuisances it’s most often quite a struggle to have things done your way in this industry. Although I think it’s safe to say that Pittsburgh emcee Boaz is having absolutely no problem doing things his way, which he makes crystal clear on the Dan Meyers-directed video for aptly-titled single My Way. Set to a seventy’s inspired beat provided by production duo K-Salaam and Beatnick, Boaz goes on to express his gratitude for being able to get to the money. Having kicked off a major tour in July, and his Rostrum Records debut Bases Loaded set for release this September, its obvious Boaz follows the old motto “practice what you preach.”

If Rostrum blogs up Boaz, then they need to write a how-do book. Boaz is not as mainstream-appealing as Wiz or Mac, but with the right marketing angle and solid production (like here on My Way) there is that opening.
