In a conversation about Kansas City hip-hop, Tech N9ne would likely be the first emcee brought up.  If the talk went on for another few minutes, though, you’d doubtless hear about rappers Crook and Bird, together known as Block Life  Thanks to the local success of their Gorillaz & Birds LP, they’ve scored a mid-major deal with the Universal-distributed Bungalo Records.  Their first single as national artists is a remix of regional hit 17.5; while KC Blaze‘s beat (which samples Shawty Lo‘s Got Em 4 The LO) is retained, Crook & Bird’s verses are sandwiched between contributions from two big names.  E-40 always finds a creative way to approach an old topic (and his opening verse here is no exception), but the highlight is when the hook’s samplee (Shawty Lo) steps into the spotlight for a full verse towards the end.  Why are his rhymes the highlight?  Because his presence will give hope (however unrealistic) to all the Jay-Z and Lil Wayne samplers you’ll find in your city!  Either way, put on 17.5 in the whip, and get ready for your trunk’s subwoofers (if you have them) to blast!

This track was pretty tight, overall nice listen. E-40's interesting accent/flow always makes tracks interesting for me, and it works well over this street production. The hook is real catchy, and I love the sample; it had me noddin my head. I never heard NEthing from Block Life B4, but they were pretty decent.

E-40 is the highlight here. I don't care much for Shawty Lo's verse, but the sample that KC Blaze used is catchy. Nice street single, overall.

This already hit pretty hard locally in the Midwest, so this new version is a win-win regardless.

Yeah, it was tight. E-40 was definitely the highlight of this cut. The beat was pretty good but I did not like Shawty Lo's verse at all. I just don't think he has very much talent. Rotation.

For a couple of relative newcomers to the game, it's a pretty decent intro single...nothing showstopping though...I don't want to sound repetitive already but I'm gonna agree with the fact that the street production and the hook are catchy - AND that E-40 is definitely the highlight....the song is also a little too long clocking in at around 6 mins...wouldn't be the worst if the final spitter was the track's king, however they used he who was at the beginning...pretty decent rhymes from Block Life though...

The Beat hit real hard & E-40 had a good verse, but the chorus was off & i wasnt feelin the rest of the verses. It needs to get a little more life, its kinda boring.

I love the hook and the beat, I personally think the track would have been better if Rich the Factor (3rd verse) and Shawty Lo were not on it but hey. E-40 always kill and 4 them BL Boys they sho puttin on 4 the city. Kansas City and if you don't know u will soon ENUFF!!!

Lol, is it just me or, after being completely disregarded until last week, Tech suddenly being brought up a lot on this site? I love it. haha. Anyway, this song is okay at best. I just don't understand why anyone would feature Shawty Lo on a song...period. I've never heard the man give a good line (much less a good verse) and it's a death wish to even consider featuring him; similar to Gucci Mane. Anyways, E-40 is the only thing that saves this track in my opinion; his last album was slept on, he's a notable artist, no doubt.

The beat is good but I didn't like their flows. I'm not a fan of this type of songs, they sound all the same with that repeated hook. It's OK

Just OK, E-40 always has BANGING beats and on this he sound out of place. Block life is ok. Shawty Lo can do much better as well.
