Blaqstarr - War Of Roses
Artist: Blaqstarr
Featuring: Talib Kweli
Producer: Blaqstarr
Album: Blaqstarr: The Mixtape
Label: NEET Records/Interscope
Blaqstarr, the Baltimore club DJ who recently brought us Handstand, has joined forces with B.K. vet Talib Kweli (one-half of legendary duo Black Star, coincidentally) for newly-leaked mixtape inclusion War of the Roses. On this hard-hitting banger, the headliner’s fusion of rock ‘n’ roll and club music sets the stage for a lyrical story of love in times of war. If you’re digging Roses, be sure to download Blaq’s aptly-titled Blaqstarr: The Mixtape when it hits his official site April 12.

Nice to actually have a song that can be classified as rock come through the booth. Ofcourse there's gonna be those who don't like it but there'll be just as many that do. It helps give the Booth some versatility. This is nice too. Blaqstarr, mangages to pull of the rock sound and still keep some hip-hop splashes here and there. The booth should definitely feature more songs from different genre's in the future.

This is definitely different and I'm sure that's why it appeals to me. When the classic B-More drum kicks in it takes your for a loop but any music head will appreciate Blaqstarr for this fusion. That's the beauty of music when an artist can push the envelope. Talib doesn't add anything groundbreaking but he doesn't take away from the track either. Solid.
