Jay-Z may have spit the line, but on Give the Drummer Sum it’s Black Milk who laces his own beat with some hip-hop soul we haven’t heard in quite a while. With some quick organ stabs, a mean drum kick, and a subtle bass guitar lick, the Detroit producer/rapper concocts a lead single that proves it “don’t make no sense” how he’s has been ignored by the mainstream for so long. As he gears up to release his new album, Tronic, due out in stores on October 28, Milk hopefully has enough in him to give the game a swift kick in the gonads. With featured appearances from Pharaohe Monch, DJ Premier, Sean Price, Royce Da 5’9”, Dwele and more, you shouldn’t expect anything but flawlessness from one of the Dirty D’s best and brightest talents.
i was about to go eat some cereal before i heard this song... beat is nice and everything goes over me well... until i hit the 50 second mark.. his flow is OK, but nothing more to me.. everything else is good. so.. i guess that would be... 3 stars?
Black Milk is the type of artist whose work you have to rate on an overall basis... because, well, he created the entire product, not just the lyrics, or production. This is not his best production work, because he is capable of classic material, but overall the song is a nice listen.
Oy, why name yourself Black Milk? lol, geez. Oh and the song is nice... not much else, it doesn't really strike a cord. I would like to hear more for sure.
I don't like the beat and his flow, either. Basically it's an original song and the idea to put the child in the hook is good, but I don't like that much the overall result
Seriously... What happened to Black Milk?! This sucks! and His other song with Pharoahe Monch is just mediocre! I seriously remember his old Popular Demand CD loved all his tracks... That was banging, and this just isnt...
