Baby aka Birdman - Always Strapped ft. Lil Wayne
Artist: Baby aka Birdman
Featuring: Lil Wayne
Producer: Mr. Beatz
Album: Big Money Talk
Label: Cash Money Records
On the lead single off Bryan “Baby” Williams’ forthcoming LP, the rapper/Cash Money exec also known as Birdman shares a father-son moment with Lil Wayne, a.k.a. Birdman, Jr, bonding over the fact that they’re both Always Strapped. In addition to handling hook duties, Weezy kicks off the proceedings with a guest verse that sounds a little subdued in comparison to much of his recent output; Birdman brings some more energy when he steps into the spotlight to discuss his epic grind and the shine that it’s earned him. Like many of the records Wayne’s been on in recent memory, the production (courtesy of Mr. Beatz) bears traces of rock-rap experimentation; here, brass fanfare collides with metal guitar riffs, and the results are ear-pleasing, though the instrumental occasionally distracts during the verses. Big Money Talk. Birdman’s fourth solo studio album, has yet to receive a specific release date from Universal Motown, but is scheduled to drop sometime this summer.

Song is alright. I only rated it high because Wayne was in it. He did not do anything special but you know how everyone else rides him. I do not know how this new rock/rap thing is gonna turn out. I will have to hear more of it.

Birdman is weak but what can you expect. The song still straight slaps cuz of the production. That rock wit the guitar combined with the hip-hop is insane! This is kickin'!

The beat is off the charts!! Wayne flow on is at his best on here. OMG, this is a straight banger right here. I love the guitar and the horn on this production.

the production on this was OK, typical. The song was kinda hot... but it was very slow paced. The song was catchy to an extent, but Weezy sounded a lil lazier than usual and Birdman just can't save a song. I mean BM did his thang, but nothin different than what he always does. BMJR is cool, even with the slow, lazy flow.

This is HOT!
Brings back memories of "Like Father like son" days... there was no grammys then, but it was good music! ;) This production got me literally headbanging! Delivery was better than lyrics though. |

Weezy is universal! What he gonna do next? Try a country crossover like Nelly did with Tim McGraw? We just gonna have to see.

What an epic beat, it goes well with Waynes laid back flow that he has in this song. If more lyrical rappers had been on this beat I would have given it a 5, but this is still a good song, its just the content they are rapping about is pretty played out.

Mr. Beatz laid down some great groundwork here. I won't comment on Weezy, because he gets enough attention. I have never cared for Baby as a rapper, but he is real solid on this track. Nice intro for the new album.
@Lil Burn - if by old you mean not yet serviced to radio, then yes, its old haha. |

Mr Beatz provides a blitzkrieg of brass fanfare, guitar riffs, and thumping bass .... major props ... but the verses are quite dull ... Coulda been better if the beat wasn't so overpowering..... tho I agree Z Actually a worthwhile contribution from Birdman ....
