Booth newcomer Billy RoadzMySpace bio traces the Jersey emcee’s musical aspirations back to hours spent getting familiar with the R&B greats while watching his mother do housework – which raises the question: if my Mom had handled the chores and let me vibe out uninterrupted, would I currently be on my way to rap stardom? I’ll have to remember to bring that one up during Thanksgiving dinner. Anyway, Roadz latest single, Towards the Sky, is a street-certified motivational anthem with a trendy rock-rap edge courtesy of producer Sizzle, who serves up a hard-hitting beat driven by midtempo percussion and delayed electric-guitar riffage. After the headliner clues listeners in on the scope of his ambitions on the front, Brooklyn rapper Maino jumps on board to provide a little moral support, brushing off the doubters in his exultant middle verse. Singer Jesse Idols rounds out the lineup, joining Roadz for a hook I can only describe as stutter-rific. This promising up-and-comer’s debut set has yet to receive a release date, but fans can keep it locked to the Booth for all the latest news and tunes.

The rap/rock hybrid must be done right or shouldn't be done at all. Here it is executed very well.

While Billy does an OK job on the opening verse, my personal highlight is the hook singing of Jesse Idols. Very smooth an a much needed lite accompaniment. Maino is... well.. Maino.

I'd like to hear more from Mr. Roadz in the future.

I dont care what anyone says about Maino - I can't help but love the dude's product... I just think he's such a real dude... The hook is pretty nice and Billy Roadz held his own without gettin overshadowed by the big name...

I'm with Nathan S. on this one, I'm not feeling this at all; the production is all over the place here, the guest feature does nothing to improve the track either.

Rhymes on display, while decent, are equally predictable but hook and catchy production combined, I’m sure it could be a semi-hit these days, since everyone these days is looking for an anthem to rock to. Rotation-Stuff.
