Billy Blue - Fresh From Head 2 Toe
Artist: Billy Blue
Producer: Guerilla Tek
Album: Real Talk
Label: Poe Boy/KonLive/Mosley/Interscope
Riddle time: What could be better than having one or two heavyweight labels co-sign your music? Try having three brands promoting you! Such is the case with North Miami’s Billy Blue, whose debut album, Real Talk, will be released under Poe Boy Entertainment, Akon‘s KonLive Distribution, and Timbaland‘s Mosely Music Group (all of which are distributed by Interscope). Though his prior Booth feature, Face So Good, received mixed reviews (from a grand total of six ratings), Billy Blue is no quitter—today, he’s back with a new feature, Fresh From Head 2 Toe. As on Face So Good, Billy comes across as a hybrid of Rick Ross and Juvenile; the difference is Guerilla Tek‘s beat, which goes heavy on the brass to achieve a more jazzy sound. On the strength of its production alone, Fresh From Head 2 Toe should pick up some positive feedback. Now, if only he could score a beat by Kon or Timbo (or even Danja) for his next feature…

ah something fast. i wanted something a like this at least once tonight. i honestly, at the beginning didnt know the song was gonna take the direction it took. it threw me off a lil but as the song goes on i lose interest in it. so 2 and 1/2 stars.

This track's got a nice rhythm and tune that's destined to catch on. His rap names needs some reworking though. Billy Blue? Nah man.

Haha... this is definitely Juvenile wit a raspier voice! He reminds me of Juvenile alot, and I dont know if thats a great thing. I like his vibe that he stays wit throughout the song, but his lyrics are just average. His voice kinda gets annoying after a while, tho, especially on the hook. The production is pretty hot, though. Still just OK.

I'm with "that1kid13" on this one. It starts off tight, but gets boring. I'll be nice and put it in rotation. Production is not bad.

The production is pretty hot and I wish another artist hopped on this. Billy Blue's flow is alright but nothing major and his vocals need improvement. Decent listen

Nah, I'm sold for that brass... production is top notch: who needs Timbo and Akon? What he needs is more interesting concepts and lyrics, cuz the flow is cool. I'll round up.

Pretty generic concept and no great wow factor delivery. If you're gonna copy everyone else, you need to do it with style. This was half-assed.

yea he could flow and do his thing, but lyrics need to hit harder and beat needs to knock in a way that would fit a "fresh from head to toe" concept, beat just doesnt fit with the topic

I think they killed the production on this one. As soon as the song came on it got my attention. The rest of the song did nothing for me, but this production was great.

Just another case of 'the beat is the best thing about this song and the beat aint even that good' ....

The beat is fire but I'm not convinced about this one, I don't like him and I don't like the music so much. I'd dance to it in the club, but wouldn't put it in my mp3 player

@FredRico - that brass is B-E-A-utiful.... but it doesn't sound like Billy really knows how to work with it. Some artists just cannot compliment this type of production.
It's in my rotation, but its a nice compliment to another activity, but he will have to better next time to stick around... |

I agree with ultimate hip-hop. he definitely needed someone else on this to take the boring factor away. The production is hot; his voice is just too redundant. Still in rotation.
