East Coast native Big Shug has hooked up with his former Gangstarr Foundation collaborator, DJ Premier, for the single Play It. Found on his new Babygrande release, Street Champ, the song features classic Premo scratching during the chorus under Shug’s exclamation to simply let the music play. The wordplay and lyricism are top notched and are a throwback to ‘96, although when Shug decides to sing on the hook, Biz Markie and Ja Rule come to mind. Only way to agree or disagree, is to play it.
