Big K.R.I.T - Dreamin
Artist: Big K.R.I.T
Producer: Big K.R.I.T.
Album: Return of 4Eva
Label: Cinematic Music Group/Def Jam
Meridian, Mississippi is back in the building as her native son Big K.R.I.T. springs back onto the scene in anticipation of the March 22, release of his Return of 4 Eva free album with a lulling, self-produced track aptly titled Dreamin. After the success he saw in 2010, K.R.I.T. is pausing to reflect upon his roots in his new song; think of it like Dreamin is to K.R.I.T. what Juicy was to Biggie, to a certain extent. K.R.I.T. is still on the come-up, and he’s humble enough to look back at how far he’s come, from writing rap lyrics on his baseball mitt during his athletic stint in high school to being featured in magazines like Spin and XXL (and, may we add, DJBooth). He’s come a long way from Meridian, and the best part is he’s still got a long, long way to go – that’s our hope anyway. A new website has been launched for the upcoming album: returnof4eva.com. Check it out, make yourself comfortable and of course check back with DJBooth.net for more Big K.R.I.T. as it becomes available

That guitar sample sounds extremely familiar, but I can't quite place it.
Be that as it may, this is a pretty stripped down song and I think it works great. The simple production puts a showcase on K.R.I.T.'s lyrical prowess and he doesn't disappoint. |

There is a reason why K.R.I.T. has developed a legion of fans since we released his "K.R.I.T. Wuz Here" album last year - he only knows how to make quality records. That streak continues with the release of "Dreamin."

Not a KRIT track that's going to blow you away, but it's yet another quality addition to an ever growing catalog. Just a year ago the man was a relatively unheard of rapper out of Mississippi, and today he's one of the best young artists in the game. Dream on.

Not K.R.I.T.'s best track, but very respectable and enjoyable.

There's something about Big K.R.I.T.'s music that just seems pure and honest. A very humble rapper, which is unusual in these days, every album is a journey and his voice is perfect for his southern tales. This joint is heartfelt and really hits home about his movement. Return of 4eva is another step in the right direction for his movement. Southern soulful rap.
