Revolutionary rhetoric seems to be a recurring theme in today’s musical lineup. Like fellow newcomer Phene, who blasts power-tripping cops and sinister neoconservatives on his currently-featured Freedom Ain’t Free, Big K.R.I.T. takes the opportunity to air a few political grievances on his Booth debut, mixtape leak 2000 & Beyond. Backed by his own retro-funk boardwork (featuring samples from Hughley Brothers crime drama Dead Presidents), the Mississippi native reminds us that, black President or no, life is still far from sunshine and rainbows for disadvantaged Americans. Though the emcee touches upon everything from prostitution and drug addiction to healthcare reform and H1N1, he saves his sharpest barbs for pastors more interested in lining their pockets than serving their communities: “I don’t understand, how you fit so many rings on a helping hand / tired of deception, but I’ll pay his kids’ tuition ‘cause I’m tryin’ to get to heaven.” Big K.R.I.T’s debut mixtape, K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, doesn’t drop till April 5, but fans should keep their eyes peeled for the premiere of his latest music video, Hometown Hero.

Reminds me of some old school Outkast/Goodie Mobb. Real refreshing sound (and talent) from the south.

Good look, Jonny.

This beat is real cool, and KRIT sounds good on it. I can hear some UGK in this guys voice. The clips are a nice addition to the track and help keep your attention throughout.

i like the beat, it sound like that ol skool my time coming up, that i could bob my head, his flow is hard ass hell, but the intro in my oppinon was irrelevant, i thought this was going to be straight political..i see where he was going with the hook...but too many movie tags and its annoying...he reminds me of pimp c..but no one will come close to what pimp c stood for and who he was...and thats why he will always be one of my favorites...he words are true, but i can't rate this a banger but ill def put this in med. rotation..

This is my first time listening to KRIT and I have to say, I'm impressed. Z nailed it, this is old school Goodie Mod meets Outkast (with a little UGK thrown in). I'll take some more any day.

I remember hearing Krit a few years ago and I'm still digging his flow. Add his skills behind the boards and he's future threat in the game.

The song is pretty good, an engaging listen throughout. Its above average and flows nicely, but just a little something missing, a standout element to make me throw up four stars on it. Still, Rotation fa sho!
