Big Boi - Lookin' for Ya (Jedi Remix)
Artist: Big Boi
Featuring: Andre 3000 , Sleepy Brown
Producer: Boi-1da
Album: Unreleased
Label: Def Jam
If label politics didn’t stop artists from making the music they want, with whoever they want, the hip-hop game – and, by extension, the world – would be better for off. Till that utopia becomes a reality, though, you can count on the Booth to bring you all the cuts that, for whatever reason, didn’t make the cut… like this new Jedi Remix of the freaky Lookin’ for Ya, a joint left off Big Boi‘s latest solo LP thanks to the presence of Outkast partner-in-rhyme Andre 3000. For this remake, Boi-1da‘s synth-sizzling instrumental is retained, as is Sleepy Brown‘s smooth chorus. So, what is new? The verses, of course; both Daddy Fat Stacks and André Benjamin drop new bars every bit as twisty, turny, witty and engaging as those on the original. The highlight? I’ll let you decide for yourselves – though, I have to admit, hearing 3K work in a reference to ‘70s yacht-rockers Steely Dan absolutely made my day. As mentioned above, neither the original nor this remix was included on the massively acclaimed Sir Lucious Left Foot, but those who want a copy of this version need simply click the download link below.

Dope as anything else that comes out from Andre, big boi, or boi-1da. Boi-1da's synth filled beat and the great verses have caused me to keep this on repeat for like 24 hours now.
Banger. |

I feel like people may not be fully appreciating what's happening here. This may not technically an Outkast record, but it's the closest we've come in over three years (since Idlewild). Goddamn I miss Kast.

Nostalgic or not I'm breaking out the full monty. This right here, if Def Jam decided to snatch this track and give it massive support would catapult everything under the sun including World Peace.
Okay, maybe I'm reaching on world peace but this is as close to some new 'Kast as we're going to get so I'm thankful as Stacks was on "So Beautiful". |

So refreshing to hear Andre's bars, such a shame neither of the versions made the album.

Im with u Z!!!
and 2 new Andre verses is even better, Big Boihold his own on this to, but guess i appreciate the Andre verses more cause we dont gdet as many from him as of late was always a fan of the original track, Boi 1da does a good job on the beat, sounds like something Outkast would spit on , i 1da if he made the beat specifically for Kast or if he already had it in his catalogue and Big Boi picked it cause it sounds like something different from Boi 1da's usual sound this shit gets 5 starts, if i could rate it 6 i would The Art of Blends... Retro Classic Review: Aw hell, you might as well throw 'Classic' on most of what Outkast drops.
1/2 of the greatest rap group of all time (sorry, with all due respect to Tony Stark & Co., Run DMC, Public Enemy and my boys UGK) who won the Album of the Year Grammy (the same one Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and the Beatles won) as well as being ahead of their time with incredible ground breaking consistency dropped another nice one for our ears. (DJbooth.net, you all really need to create a 'Hip Hop Classics' column... and maybe you should let me write/contribute for it too. ;) |
