With the Rockaway-bred rapper’s taste for beer and weed-fueled house parties, his penchant for polysyllabic rhymes so cleverly convoluted you can’t help but laugh (“perpetratin’ hater/perforated paper” is my all-time fave), and his tendency to drop cultural references far removed from the hip-hop scene, it’s kinda Beyond Belief that the Bobby J./Beastie Boys connection hadn’t occurred to me till just now—after listening to the lead single off his debut full-length, though, the influence couldn’t be more apparent.  Making its world premiere right here at DJBooth, Work finds BB spitting new-old school fire over an similarly era-bridging beat by his musical mentor; though Kwame‘s propulsive, kick-driven groove on the first two verses has a trendy, minimalist feel, the sample-collage hook (featuring a snippet from Licensed to Ill track Hold It Now, Hit It) and beat-switched closing verse are brimming with the off-the-cuff retro flavor that defined the Beasties’ early work.  If this DJBooth exclusive has your head a-bobbing, you’re sure to find more to your liking on What About BOB?, out Aug. 20th off Make Noise!!.

I still got "U Don't Know Me" on repeat. This is nowhere near as good but I'm going to try not to compare the two beacause they are two entirely different types of songs. I was feelin this. Production had my head bobbin and BB showed his skills on here. 3.5

Beyond Belief and Kwame go together like Fat Joe and a box full of Hostess snack cakes. Just delicious.

Thanks to BB and the whole camp for the premiere.

DAMN! BB always bring such a solid flow to his joints but the flow he put on this right here is slick! ... And the complexity of the whole production is fcukin interesting to say the least ... Kwame builds an ear-pleasing combinations of samples to get your head bobbing ... BANGER!!!

now this is real hip-hop. the way the 3rd verse mixes the old school with the new school is crazy. kwame is a master at his craft and beyond belief is a true lyricist, worthy of rockin over his beats.

This beat is RETARDED. Love the Beastie samples. And the flow is on point. The breakdown on the 3rd verse takes the song to another level.

Good flow. Production is nice, but I might pass through it on the radio if I heard it because I only feel it on certain parts.
