Beyond Belief may be far from the average emcee, but he shares one quality with just about everyone in the game (and most of the world): he’s constantly questing after bigger and Bigger Checks. Making its world premiere right here at DJBooth.net, this newly-released promo single sees the reader favorite talking up his paper chase over mentor Kwame‘s hard-hitting mix of organ, piano, and ghostly backing vocals. Despite the straightforward lyrical theme, Bobby J. manages to lace his verses with plenty of characteristically allusive wordplay: “Tryin’ to get this Ralph Nader when I Al Qaeda/ Get it? That’s green when I blow up.” The Rockaway native’s Brooklyn neighbor, Red Cafe, turns in an equally impressive performance halfway through, assuring fans that he’s willing to do anything to get his shine – even organize a Ponzi scheme a la Bernie Madoff. This ambitious cut isn’t scheduled to appear on any forthcoming project, but Beyond Belief fans should keep their eyes glued to our front page; the up-and-comer’s new, Booth-sponsored Excellent Adventure mixtape is set to hit the ‘net this month.

My 2010 prediction: Beyond Belief becomes a household name in hip-hop households (I know I used "household" twice but you get the point). The man can go serious, freestyle and banger (like he does here). Get money anthems have gotten played out, but Beyond injects the genre with some fresh style, and Red Cafe does his thing. Feeling this.

Both emcees hit this one real hard from start to finish. This is the type of beat that Beyond Belief can really tear to shreds, I hope to hear more like this from him.

It has the appeal of an upbeat number, tailor made for radio playlists. And there's nothing wrong with that cos BB does his thing, but you can tell he dumbs down his rhymes in order to let Red cafe shine, who delivers a solid performance for his standards. Hook could use some freshness tho! Rotation fa sho!

It may be because I hold BB to a higher standard, but this is just an average track to me. Just not feeling it like I usually do, kinda boring, but I was actually impressed with Red Cafe. 2.5 stars
