In case you missed yesterday’s news, Beyoncé has returned to the musical spotlight to prepare for her upcoming junior album, I Am… Today, the Booth presents the second record in her new “dual single” set, If I Were A Boy (the first being Single Ladies, featured yesterday). While some listeners will immediately think of Ciara‘s similarly-titled Like A Boy because of the similarity in subject matter, the vibe and song makeup are both completely different, thanks to the guitar patterns of producer Toby Gad (see Fergie‘s Big Girls Don’t Cry). If we were a betting-site, which we most certainly are not, the Booth would put its money on If I Were A Boy to gain more airplay and enjoy higher chart success. Look for I Am… to land in stores on November 18.
Its okay, I think shes has better songs. I like her dancing songs better, I like single ladies better.

way different than than ciara's version. Why this sound like country kinda not feeling it but its Beyonce..vocals is always hot and smooth. 3 stars, 4 if it had better beat
Her voice sounds beautiful. The song has a nice meaning behind it. It kind of leaves me speechless but its truly not the best from Beyonce. I guess I expected more but this is still a banger.
Beyonce can do slow and fast (I am talking about music, people). This is a little slow for my own personal taste, but as a whole shows her skills as a vocalist better than SINGLE LADIES. She has my vote of confidence in this project!
This production is off the chains and the vibe of this song is mad ill. That picture makes me feel creeped by Beyonce. Put a beautiful picture of her up. But really, this is a great song. It's really reflective and a cry out for us men to start respecting and noticing our women...they want us to understand them. What Beyonce is describing that she'd do is what she is asking of us men to do...be as compassionate and considerate as they would be if they were us. Deep definitely.
her vocals are great on this song...this isn't my favorite, but it's cool...definitely throw it in...i'm very excited to see what else beyonce has in store for us with her upcoming album...
this song will be a hit in the pop genre. pop lovers will eat this song up/ many hip hop singers will look past this but as a pop song this is the ish. good work beyonce.

This song is alright, i prefer it when Beyonce has got a bouncing beat, thats when she's at her finest, this is ok, but i probably wouldnt listen to this regularly (if at all once it drops of the recently added play-list on itunes) so its in rotation, for the time being

I might be the only person in the world that don't think her songs are *that* legit. I mean, she's gorgeous ya.. she can sing and perform live her ASS off. She IS superwoman... but just her songs in general... i dunno exactly what it is, but im not really diggin it.

I usually get annoyed by Beyonce's voice, but in this song she's shown her best I think. Is it just an impression of mine or has she improved a lot? Her voice has always been powerful but here she's singing perfectly...apart from her voice the song is really sweet, I'm feeling it! Excellent music which fully fits her type of voice...this will be a banger I hope!
This production is more like pop or even country like BDF said, but for the genre it is, it's perfectly done and B sounds absolutely lovely! She hits the high notes like it was nothing... impressive! I agree with Patty that she may be sounding better than ever. I like this more vocally focused version of Beyonce (Dangerously in love) better than the crazy dancing one (Crazy in love). :p

b has been slipping for awhile with me after dangerously in love. so was not expecting much but saw the video and I swear..i actually was awe struck! i actually learned something...damn, do i sound that thrifling.."i was just dancing with a friend not like somn happened"! lmao
it aint wat every body is makin it to be. I dont care how she feel or wat she would do or anybody else would do if she were a boy as far as the subject matter goes. I really couldnt find myself buying her new album the way things are shaping up for her. OH and the production is a bit annoying except for the strings with subtle set... its actuall kind of soothing. But as far as the songs goes 2.2
Beyonce's producer is trying to gather eye's of country viewers, allowing her to get more money, so that when the album drops its phenomenal, but she came through nice. So if you like country, Id get that album!
i remember when i 1st heard this song..i didnt like it at 1st..but when i start listening to the lyrics..i started liking it..this song is really good..
