After she dropped her last album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé said she’d be taking some time off from the music grind, and sure enough it’s been almost two years since we’ve last featured a solo track from Queen B. The wait is over. Today, new single Run The World (Girls) leaked and after one listen it’s safe to say that Beyoncé’s name will once again be on the lips of everyone breathing. A sweating, dance floor ready cut, Girls finds producers Diplo and Switch grabbing Major Lazer’s dancehall banger Pon Da Floor and softening it just a touch, while still maintaining the original’s energy and strength. Vocally this is B at her most swaggerish, bringing back out the half-rap, half-rung style we last heard on previous release Diva. Call it a club joint or a ladies anthem if you want, just make sure you call Girls a hit. If this is the lead single I can only guess what Beyoncé has in store for us as she prepares to release her currently untitled
unscheduled new album 4 – you’ll just have to keep it locked to the Booth for all the latest.

Good God, the hook on this song is corny! It can be useful to occasionally set up a swear word and leave it blank, but ONLY occasionally. It should never be a main part of your song, and at least set it up with a rhyme instead of just "Mother________". This song was doomed for me from the very beginning because of that.

This is really risky even for Beyonce. This will not get much love in the U.S. But this is probably going to be a smash overseas. Good to hear Queen B back on the scene though. I was worried about her for a while.

The original beat is FIYAH! But this is a HUGE NO! Beyonce is almost 15 yrs deep in the game and at this point she should be setting trends rather than following suit. She can do MUCH better than this. It's time to lead these pop chicks into womanhood B. We can't be in the clubs forever or sounding 15.

I am giving this many listens and days of time to grow on me and I came to the conclusion that it has... a little. I usually love Beyonce's music, but I have to say that I like (and no judging) Britney Spears' Till The World Ends more. Yikes!
