For those who have exhausted the possibilities offered by the Kama Sutra, new Capitol Records signee Bertell‘s here to suggest a few new ways to – ahem – Beat It Up. On the second half of his current dual single (released along with hit Bun B collabo She Bad), the Booth newcomer lets listeners know know just how sexually adventurous he is, inviting a female to try out the “VIP position” in the club bathroom before enjoying a little white-knuckle action on the way back to his place. Getting it in while rocketing down the freeway at 80 miles per hour may be a really, really bad idea, but Bertell spins the potentially life-threatening scenario into one crowd-pleasing R&B-pop jam, showcasing his smooth vocal stylings over Bryan-Michael Cox’ uniquely seductive mix of glittering synths and warm strings. If Beat It Up has you screaming, “Ey, ey, ey, ey, ey ey!” well, your first order of business should probably be a cold shower – but after that, you’ll definitely want to keep it locked for the latest on Bertell’s Goin Hard LP, currently set to hit stores in spring of next year.

Vocals are above average but not special. This ain't bad for a radio spin and very fitting for the cold cold winter, when I tend to throw R&B on more than any other time. 3 star track here, but I wasn;t expecting much more.

I would actually compare Bertell to something more in the Bobby V ballpark than The-Dream, though the "A!" shouts are an obvious rip-up. Some quality vocals from Bertell and solid boardwork from Cox, I've got nothing against this at all.

I agree with DJ Z, sounds like The-Dream, even has the signature "ayyy" in the background at points. B. Cox tried too hard to mimic Dream. But the result isn't bad at all! This is a hot song!

I really like this song. I about broke my neck trying to find my purse to download it and make it my ringtone. I wouldn't say he reminds me of Trey as his voice is more like a Tyrese or Joe and love the lyrics :) but I'm a little bias as I love anything the Bryan Cox produces its always hot as hell :)
