Black Eyed Peas - The Time (The Dirty Bit)
Artist: Black Eyed Peas
Producer: will.i.am
Album: The Beginning
Label: A&M/ Will.I.Am Music Group
Now, I’m no Black Eyed Peas hater, but I have to admit that it was with some trepidation that I clicked “play” on the only-a-matter-of-time-before-it’s-a-hit lead single off their forthcoming LP – what will I do if I hate it? Live in the woods as a hermit for the next year and a half? Well, after listening to The Time (The Dirty Bit), I’m happy to say I won’t be putting down a deposit on a cave anytime soon. I’m… actually kinda digging it. will.i.am proves as deft as ever behind the boards, serving up a sparse, body-moving percussion backdrop for the same brand of eccentric, instantly memorable rhymes that helped make Boom Boom Pow a smash: “All these girls they like my swagger, they call me Mick Jagger / I be rollin’ like a stone, jet-setter, jet-lagger.” Top it all off with a hook repurposed from Dirty Dancing classic (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life, and you’ve got yourself another megahit – or do my ears deceive me? Whatever your feelings on the matter, you can expect to hear plenty more from will, Fergie, apl and Taboo leading up to the November 30, release of the Peas’ sixth full-length, The Beginning.

I don't like this at all, but I never base my ratings/feedback strictly on personal preference. I understand that not every record is made for a) me, b) my demographic, c) my sex. It is because of these three facts that I cannot hate on the new BEP single. A mega-hit from a mega-group.

I can understand sampling, but I'm tired of will.I.am steeling chorus and making them sound horrible. Also, that one comment he made about every other genre except dance being obsolete right now just pissed me off. This is just stupid in my opinion.

Unlike Z, I ALWAYS base my ratings on personal preference, and I must say I liked Black Eyed Peas better back when they put out a purer and more heartfelt send, a la "Where is the Love?". This song sounds like a cheap techno song whored out to the clubs. Very wack.

However this song doesn't really give anything new besides for the beat and that could knock a lot of points of this for some people. Now if we start hearing Hip-Hop/Rap songs with drops like that that officially makes BEP trend setters.

Catchy as hell; will.i.am is actually a really good pop producer; people underestimate him sometimes.
This is going to blast up the charts and cause serious damage. |

wow. i enjoyed this, maybe because im a huge fan of older music, it brings me back to the simple days of me and my mom just sitting in the living room catching the oldies on saturday night. but even without my strange biast, the production alone is extremely well done, vocals are all fake but it doesn't matter. its a classic.

Make it stop... Make it go away... If this goes big I will throw my radio out of the window... How cocky to put that stupid Euro voice: "This is mega radio smasher"... Annoying

And Will.I.Am's back with one of those, we're-gonna-exploit-your-success sample, as opposed to the we're-gonna-honor-you samples. Cos without that it would be just another four on the floor techno beat, with some obnoxious sound effects (and even worse rapping)in between.
I acknowledge, it does have a way of imprinting itself on the brain but unfortunately it’s not an effect that is at all pleasant nor welcomed. Actually, anything would be preferable over hearing this again. |

This is the weekest track I have heard so far from Black Eyed Peas , Hip-hop wise they are going down hill , elecronic wise are doing well , but this track sucks . Played the track once , not planning in playing it again.

Well I don't like it at all just like z. Although, I kind of like the chorus part. And if it becomes a hit it will be a lot better than hearing "I Got A Feeling" always on the radio.

Will.i.am is a great producer. he could make crap sound good, but unfortunately, I think that's what he did here. BEP's done better.

You Guys Dont Appreciate Other Styles Of Music. This Is Many Different, but From An Electronic perspective, This Is A Really Great Song. It Does Sound Alittle Forced With All the Voices, But The Beat Is Gold. 4 Stars, Great Single.

If this becomes a single that I can not escape on the radio I think I will be tempted to randomly walk by people and punch them dead in the face.....repeatedly! Hot Garbage!!!

I like BEP, they are energitic but maaan their songs sound the same. Plus it seems like their songs are made for one individual in mind...females...young females.
I cant hate on their fame, the songs are definately jams. But unless I am hanging with my girl at club and liquored up I cant seem to like their songs. But on judging based on their prior songs this one is just a eeeeh. 2 stars. |

I love the comments everyone has. Either really good or really bad, haha. That's exactly what the Black Eyed Peas accomplish in every song they make, except the people who love to hate on their music end up loving them in return. This track needs less autotune, Fergy just doin the hook, no verse and more Will.I.Am and I think it would actually be alright. Such a strange track... Makes me feel weird singing a long wit it, haha. Way to bring back Patrick Swayze though. Gotta give it 3 stars for that

Lot of househeads are gonna love this one.
I'm in the middle. I know this will be a club banger, BUT for myself to listen to this in my room while doing my homework is a NO GO. I hate it when it slows down. |

I love the chorus, hate the versus. I agree with Lipe Fuso that it has to many syles of music in one song. Makes it sound like s**t. I miss the old BEP, the one that used to say, Where is the Love.

This song is legito, BEP know how to appeal to the masses with the time of my life throwback. While it may not start off to hot theres no denying how sick the drop is. Like best ive heard in awhile.... 4+
