To paraphrase the popular saying, if you’re not angry, you haven’t been paying attention. Incensed by the wackness emanating from his fellow rap buzzmakers, BenniB seizes the opportunity to blow of a little steam on The Vent, a standout off his recent, DJBooth-hosted sophomore set. Here, Canteen Killa provides an abrasive synth backdrop for bars blasting “college underground maggots,” trend-hopping white rappers and other individuals who never fail to make the Windy City repper’s blood boil. Don’t like what he has to say? Benni has some choice words for you in the record’s outro: “You know if you take offense you’re guilty, right?” This belligerent banger is just one of many quality jams to be found on The Second Wind, available here for free streaming and digital download.
