Miami rapper Benisour (Pronounced “ben-i-SWAH”) has one of those voices that was just meant to be heard. He may not dazzle you with his wordplay or his wit, but his deep, casual-sounding baritone is extremely easy on the ears – imagine a Game/Jim Jones hybrid on valium. His new single, The Grain, is about falling in love with a stripper. Despite T-Pain’s and Mike Jones’s best efforts, it is apparently still a faux pas to do so. Guest Akon, who actually ends up with more time on the mic than Benisour, contributes a typical hook, and Konvict Music handles the production, laying down some quietly pulsating strings over laid-back percussion. The song oughtta get its share of late-night spins at your local strip club. While no announcements have been made regarding the release of his debut album, Benisour is rumored to be working on one right now.
This should be an Akon track, he produced it and he's on here more than Benisour. What can ya say about this though, is there really a such thing as a bad Akon produced song? He is killin it right now, and this Benisour guy isn't too bad either. I'll throw it in rotation, pretty hot.
Do Mfz really fall in love with strippers? Seriously, I mean don't get me wrong if you love her then you love her occupation doesn't make a person, but serioisly does it happen often enough for cats to be makin songs bout it? This dude voice is good 4 rhyming, it could work with the downfall of Ross. Production is heat, content is weak.
what is this velvet??? haha so smooth. His voice is very unique but without Akon's hook i dont think i'd listen to this. Its a good chill song..I'd probably have to be smokin a swisha to fully enjoy it
I noticed Akon loves producing chilling song...it's not the first one he made like this, and won't be the last for sure! I like it, it's sweet, but a little boring. I don't agree with TykillaSE, dude Benisour isn't bad...maybe a lil weak but not bad! I forgot, I like the beat
If it wasn't for Akon, my friends, there would be MANY songs that simply wouldn't be hits, let alone make albums or get featured. Benisour is pretty solid here, its just a fact that when you have an A-list guest feature, there is a large tendency to become overshadowed. That is the case here.
I swear i've heard this hook before, i know i have, just can't point it out, Akon is still my top #1 artist, don't think that'll ever change, he's just a master, and Benisour's voice is really easy on the ears, just relaxing or something, ill play it again, BANGERR!! and btw Akon does best on tracks like this.
You could've heard the hook before because Akon made this song before, just by himself, and one verse with Ray-L, and I thought that was for Acquitted and THAT version was AMAZING. This doesn't reach what that one did for me, that was truly some of Akon's best work imo. I hate to say it, but Benisour sorta ruined this. I'll just stick to the Akon/Ray-L one...
I guess you can't go wrong with AKON, but dude is a phony. I mean I like him but this is the problem with hip hop right now. NEW JACK SWING of 08. How does a rapper like this get higher ratings than KRS or that XL Sean Price track. THIS IS NOT HIP HOP
Muzzie, your right, i over-checked after i heard this song and the song is called Against The Grain with Akon and Ray-L, you got it first lol, yea i agree also with that statement, this one doesn't even compare to the other, and I'm gonna second on your Akon question to lol, how's it goin for him? I'm still waiting patiently lol, Could i get some peoples opinion's if they think its gonna be Platinum?!?! I think it is. =D
akon most certainly would make u listen to anything...and like it (sometimes even if it is garbage)...wanted to but i see that it has already been cleared that it is an akon original, it was on a mixtape earlier this year!
It was actually out before that "One Man Band" mixtape hosted by Tapemasters Inc. Before that mixtape, people were calling it "Fallin' In Love". Then on the mixtape it was titled as "Against The Grain", so yea.
