Bekay - I Am (NodFactor.com Remix)
Artist: Bekay
Featuring: DJ Revolution
Producer: DJ Qvali
Album: The Hunger Pains Remix LP
Label: Deer Studio Records
I work on a site called DJBooth and even I’m a little overwhelmed by how many DJs are on Bekay’s new track I Am (NodFactor.com Remix). Coming off Bekay’s new Hunger Pains Remix album, I Am features some old school boom-bap, production from DJ Qvali and stellar turntable work from the always precise DJ Revolution. (Thank god they skipped some screaming from DJ Khaled.) To his credit the never-soft Bekay doesn’t get overwhelmed by all the DJocity, stepping up to the challenge with a series of nostalgic bars that reference everything and everyone from Lionel Richie to Kool Herc to old school dance trends: “I’m kind of like Summerjam / I’m Kid n’ Play, Roger Rabbit and the running man.” My fellow ‘80s babies just started reminiscing. If you’re digging this remix be sure to check out the real deal, Bekay’s The Hunger Pains Remix EP, available now.

Big fan of the original version and this is just simply better than that original version. If you love hip hop and where it came from back in the mid-to-late 80s, then you can both appreciate and enjoy this record.

All respect due to Bekay, but this is first and foremost a DJ track to me. If you're a fan of that old school turntable energy you've got to love this. It's a cut clinic. (Which, now that I think about it, is definitely my new fake DJ name. DJ Cut Clinic. Hell yeah.)

This remix epitomizes everything that I look for in a remix. It gives the original Alchemist version a total rebirth while the vocals are completely in pocket as if they were originally recorded to this beat. I could hear this version on mixshows for a long time coming as the intro/outro track -shelflife all day on this one!!
