I’m sure if Mr. and Mrs. Pacman were to express their longing for one another, they would have more class to say, “We should (insert gaming sound here) with each other”. Not so for producer/rapper Bei Major, who’s back after some tough reviews for his previous DJBooth track Drunk in the Club with his new arcade inspired, lullaby infused track Gamez. Produced, of course, by Maejor himself, the track is filled with enough retro gaming sounds to make listeners ears overheat. Vocally, he also enlists the help of Keri Hilson to craft a hook reminiscent of the melody to the Hush Little Baby lullaby, which I suppose is meant to remind us of a simpler time. Oh, and he raps on the cut as well, I forgot to mention that. While some may find themselves getting their gamer on to Gamez, the track sounds out of harmony and ultimately adds up to a very challenging listen for me. For those interested, the song will be featured on Bei Maejor’s creatively titled, upcoming mixtape, uʍop ǝpısdn (Upside Down), due in August for you to cop.

This is the kind of record that you'll either immediately appreciate for its creativity and catchy, borrowed melody or you'll simply hate. I am going to fall in-between my two made-up extremes. Vocally, both Bei and Keri dazzle, but its hard to take them seriously when it sounds like my brother is playing Mario behind me.

I can't bring myself to hate on this track. It is simple, but I was feelin it. Besides Flip's "Game Over," I can't think of production that incorporated video game sounds better.

Now THIS is how you make a catchy record that I can't seem to hate on (I'm talking to YOU, Ke$ha...TiK ToK, Blah Blah Blah.... -.-). Definitely creative. This is going to be the new thing I'm gonna jam while I'm playing Super Mario on my ghetto DS or GBA. |

The beats hot, just sounds like it would get old real quick. I like the way the video game sounds were used in the verse, they were more understated than in the hook. Love Keri Hilson's vocals though, and Bei Major was equally nice.

Once again I'm obviously in the minority.
No hate, but this beat's way, way too much to me. I like the video game concept, but I feel like I'm getting beat over the head with it, and whatever you think of the production, I don't think there's any question that the lyrics are average, and that's being kind. Pass.

I could see XV rippin' this up, production absolutely straight up fire, guitar background good too. So much to take in from this track, hard to actually focus on the lyrics. If there was an album inspired by this sort of production, I'd be interested.
