Bambu - Correctly Done
Artist: Bambu
Producer: Digital Martyrs
Album: ...paper cuts... EP
Label: Unsigned
What’s something that Los Angeles and Pinkberry have in common? They’ve both been pumping out some of my favorite things in recent months. While places like Pinkberry and Orange Leaf have vanilla yogurt with cheesecake bits, Los Angeles has artists sprinkled with backpack, hipster, and gangster influences. From Pac Div to TiRon to Dom Kennedy, there’s a wide array of flavors to choose from. Enter Bambu. Although this is Bambu’s second feature on DJBooth, this is my personal introduction to the emcee and I must say that I was pleased with the results of our informal meeting. Today he brings us Correctly Done, a Digital Martyrs-produced track with a laid-back vibe that’ll make you feel like going straight to a cookout with your “Kiss the Cook” apron. Thurzday of U-N-I makes a guest appearance on the record, which you can find on Bambu’s ...paper cuts… EP (out now), but the headliner takes the proverbial cake. Let’s see if the DJBooth will be pumping this into their mixes.

Production way to simple for me but as da song progressed it becam catchy i still dont see dis as a repeatable track both emcees held there own but nothing spectacular tho
dis a type of welcome to da ball game production and a lil bit of church music in it too idk for sure but all around decent track I did enjoy it tho but itz ok for me |

@ jbuntyn90- I can see the church vibe in the production. Reminds me of "My Block".
To reach anthem status like "My Block", the verses need to step up and the hook needs more substance. The stupid-southern-"Dem Franchise Boys" style doesn't work with this production. Digital Martyrs' work stole the show. |

This is dope, i'm loving the vibe from the organ. The hook could use some improvement, but Bambu and Thurz came correct on the verses.

Solid track. The chorus is seriously lacking but the production and verses certainly make this worth a listen. I'm not sure that I'd put the track in rotation but it's certainly worth checking out.

Has a real summer feel to it which is definitely something I can appreciate with the weather messing with me lately. It needs to just stay warm.
Bambu gives some good lines to the track and really brings it on the hook too. Adds to the summer effect. Solid work. Thurzday gives an okay verse as well. Overall the track was solid but it could have been something more. What can I say the summer essence the production gives off just does it for me. |

I'm getting a Calypso vibe from the Digital Martyrs and I'm loving in. I'm jumping on the bandwagon and waving my scrap the hook flag. Other than that the verses were constructed well. Love Love Love the addition of the female voice at the end but personally could have done without the grandma shout out. Maybe it would have been better as an intro for his EP.

Not feelin' this one too much. Couldn't dig the carnival like background. Not too bad, but just not my taste.

Think I with the majority here. Kinda boring chorus, solid verses, and overall just ok.

I agree with everyone else, the song itself just did not fit my description of being called "good." Beat is fairly simple and can really start to get repetitive if listened to for longer than the first couple of minutes.
Bambu, like the beat, came with a pretty simple flow and hook that is most likely going to lead people away. Thurzday didn't have to be there. His appearance really didn't garner any extra acknowledgement from me, other than the fact that he made the track last longer. "Showing cats how it's done," not likely Bambu. Back to the drawing boards. 1.5 |

Has that "It's Friday, all my friends are here, and we're kickin' it" vibe to it. Catchy as hell with that sweet ass organ.
I can't judge much on the technical and production aspect of the song. As others have already said, it is a fairly simple song with bare minimum construction. I don't know, it is pure fun though. Maybe the beat does carry the most of the weight, and I guess that is where the hole lies. Chorus needs improvement. No doubt about that. Got to hone that skill. |

This reggae/island beat is interesting...but I like it because it feels really happy! The hook is so generic and lacks any uniqueness and trust me it wasn't "Correctly Done". On a better note though Bambu and Thurzday came correctly with their verses.

I like his approach, the production was sweet at the end, i like how that was weaved in. He's no MC masta but good for a listen

The production is ok at best. Bambu's flow was alright. Thurzday was the best on this one to me.

I am a slightly surprised that this record is a being rated as low as it has been. I found the upbeat, funky vibe very entertaining. The vocals were okay (could have been better), but the end result was at least rotation-worthy.

Dislike the production on this one. It's a bit too simple. The Emcee are able to spit well enough to keep me listening, but not quite a rotation track. The church organs on here do well with the track, but I don't necessarily like it on this one. Just ok nothing special here folks.

I thunk it's pretty good, I agree that the chorus is sorta lacking though.

When you come with a laid back flow, it's really important to not let that be misinterpreted as lack of enthusiasm.
The beat is playful. Complete contrast with the delivery. |

I definitely like the groove of the production, even though it gets repetitive and would've surely benefited with more use of those female vocals which kicked in too late to help the matter. Good lyrics but the flow was unable to keep my interest as well.... 2.5
